As described, a really heavyweight hose that should be very durable in terms of abrasion/friction, especially compared to the typical blue hoses. I did not notice any bad smell as was noted in another review, though I do use and store it outside. But, just like the blue hoses, there is no kink resistance here. This hose really needs to be used in a straight line. The flow doesn't completely stop like a garden hose, but it is notably reduced as the hose folds as soon as it's pressurized if there's any curve at all.

This is absolutely the best quality backwash hose i've ever owned. I decided to purchase this layflat hose, because all the hoses i've purchased in the past from my local pool store always end up with holes in them. They get punctured easily and just don't last. This layflat hose however is extremely heavy duty. It's made to last. It would be extremely hard to puncture the material of this hose, and the 50 ft length is perfect. Now, because this is a heavy weight hose, once it's full of water, it is super heavy. It hasn't been an issue for me however when i'm using it to backwash my pool, because once i'm done and need to drain the water from the hose, i don't try to wrangle this heavy hose and pull it all in at once to drain it. I pull on the hose in sections, bit by bit and release the water in sections, until the hose is empty. I am so glad i purchased this. It's going to last a very long time, and is more then worth the price.

Due to its rigidity and firmness this 2" hose will have to be heated in order to slip it over a Sch 40 2" back flush pipe on my pool system. Its January now in north Texas so it doesn't stretch at all now. Its much stronger than the 2" thin blue hose the installer of our pool system put on the backwash piping. If heating doesn't allow slipping it on the 2" pipe I have a 2" to 1 1/2" reducer that will allow installation with some modification. The original blue hose lasted 5 years before splitting in the seem. This red hose is much thicker in the seem so I hope it will last much longer.

Seriously heavy duty . Check pipe diameter get size that won't require stretching... It won't and comes with clamp so no issues. Doubt I'll. Ever need to replace this one!

My son’s house has a sump pump that is piped to the outside with 1 1/2 PVC. pipe. We wanted an emergency use hose to have in case of a freeze up or to temporarily use in the event we needed to replace the pump. After looking at the available inexpensive blue hoses, we ordered this one. It’s a heavier piece of hose, rolls up easily, and is well worth the extra ten bucks. We added a swivel 1 1/2 npt female coupling on one end to make it a perfect hose for back up use.

For that same cost as a thin blue backed hose, you can have an incredible thick, durable hose that looks like it will last a lifetime. I can't prove that because I've only had it for a week, but there is no way a stick or branch with top open a hole in this like the thin blue hoses, it's TOUGH. Yes, it's heavy, yes it takes up a bit more space, and yes, it stinks like skunk (industrial plastic). But I'm pretty sure this hose will last. If but it again in a heart beat.

The hose is relatively light but seems very sturdy. It's recommended not to leave attached and exposed to the sun. Makes backflushing a little more of a hassle but after each use it's rolled up and still feels brand new. I believe that not leaving it out has really prolonged it's life.

Literally the BEST BACKWASH HOSE EVER! I cannot express enough the nightmare that I went thru last season with $60-$70 hoses from the pool store that rip in a heartbeat and fly all over the place like a fire hose. I went thru like 5. This hose is so heavy, it just lays there perfectly. And at $35!! Cannot be beaten. Even the guys that came to open my pool said what a great hose it was. A+++
