They work but.... it's time consuming
Curlformers... I've used them now about 5 times, and I'm still mastering how to systematically get my longer hair (18-22 inches) to not tangle up inside as I am withdrawing the wand. My hair has layers, shorter on top and longer below. They do make a lovely appearance and I don't have a helper to do the back, so mirrors are really important. I am using small sections, the hair from one inch of scalp area is about all I can get into the curler, even though my hair is quite fine and thin. If I try to do a wider or longer area, it just is really difficult to get the hair through the curlformer without having it tangle up inside. I have come to realize that keeping the curlformer on the hooked wand quite close to the hook is a good idea, don't back it off very far from the tip when you load the wand or the hair has too much time to move around where you don't want it while you're pushing the curlformer down toward the hook. It seems to me that the process of getting the hook started into the tube is the critical aspect to success. If the hook is placed right near the scalp, or even braced on my head, I can actually place a fingertip on the hook end to cover the gap so no strands of hair can escape as I am first sliding the hair into the curlformer. Once I have made that hooked tip slide into the open end of the curlformer even half an inch, I am generally good to go. I can pause at that stage, rearrange my hands and finish the pull through smoothly. If even the tiniest amount of hair escapes from the hook as I am trying to work the hair into the end of the curlformer, it will tangle up inside the curler and I will be backing it off and starting that one again. Some folks say to twist the hair before inserting it. For me that was not so successful, as it tended to want to untwist once inside the tube and to tangle as I withdrew the wand. Maybe only a quarter twist would help, but certainly not a full turn on my hair. With the 6-8 inch hair, all worked quite smoothly, and little by little I'm getting the hang of the longer hair. My one complaint is that the longer curlformers almost never snap back into a smooth spiral. The very end of them will curl up nicely, but they take on all sorts of funny contortions in the upper part and I'm fussing with pretty much every curler, trying to get them to wind up evenly. If they are left with irregularities, the curls also look irregular or deformed when I pull the hair out. They advised to use only clean wet hair. That I tried at first, and with my thin limp hair, the curl lasted two days, growing looser on the second day, but still attractive. I tried using a light layer of styling mousse on my wet hair the last two times. Because it causes the hair to be a bit more slippery, it was easier to draw the long hair through the curlformers when I used the mousse. The curls then lasted 4 days. There is a significant amount of hair breakage for me during this process... a little just in getting the hair through the wand, but mostly I noticed that I would see breakage when separating the dry curls into smaller ringlets on longer hair. The final outcome looks great, and without the heat of a curling iron, I would say it is less damaging over all to the hair, but it is more damaging than just allowing your hair to grow out in its own natural way and not curling it at all. The one discovery that made it easy as anything to remove the long spiral curlers is that if you first open the rubber part by squeezing the curlformer, then insert the tail of a rat tailed comb into the spiral, (Not down inside where the hair is, but just down the center of the coiled curler) and pull down on the comb, this assists in momentarily straightening the curlformer enough that the hair slips out quickly and without any pulling whatsoever. I take maybe an hour to set my hair. I dry it with a hair dryer, my tender scalp can't sleep in these overnight, though I tried once to bind them up in a hair net and settle with them on... that was a difficult rather painful night. I don't have sopping wet hair, but more like barely wet hair when I'm setting, as this reduces the time under the dryer. I keep a spray bottle handy as I work to rewet any areas that are drying out too much. Start to finish it can take me a couple hours or 2 1/2 hours by the time I have finished the entire process including separating the curls. I wouldn't be worth the effort for just two days curls... but for 4 days it is worth the effort. I can do this all on a curling iron but the curls from curlformers are ... more regular.... a bit more attractive somehow.

Very good product. Pay attention to the curl size!
I sent these back because my hair is far too long for the Corkscrew size curl.I went on to buy a larger curl at a different retailer that work excellent.

Amazing product!
These curlers are awesome! They are super easy to use, they are comfortable to sleep in and the results are stunning. Putting them in is quick and the curls are beautiful and the fact that there is no heat needed and no damage to the hair is the biggest plus. I am a cosmetologist but I would recommend these for everyone. Fast shipping, nice storage bag

Not what I expected.
They can be hard to get in... I put them in my daughter’s hair. They also break if you aren’t careful when you put them in the rod.

When I was able to get the curlers in place the do produce curls. The hook has gotten caught in the curlers weave and once I had to cut the curler to get the hook released. The curler was destroyed and a section of my hair was cut off.I consider this a design issue. It might not be as much an issue if someone else curls the hair rather than self curling my hair. I just set them aside.

Amazing results with great curls however you do need a lot as you can only pull through small amounts of hair at a time. My daughter found them too uncomfortable to sleep in so we used damp hair and then held the hairdryer over them and found this to give the desired results. Takes a bit of getting used to to find the best way to get the hair through and can be time consuming. Wouldn't recommend them for daily use due to the amount of time but for special occasions I think they are ideal and give a much better longer lasting result than a curling wand.
