TExES Languages Other Than English (LOTE) - Spanish (613) Secrets Study Guide: TExES Test Review for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards

Spanish is my native language and I write and speak it in professional level. I need help with Pedagogy and Instructional Assessment. This book is a fast read in these sections, but is not through. There are some Language Theories which are not exposed like Bloom's Taxonomy, Maslow, Schuman's and Savignon's Selinker's. So it is good, not complete in this specific content which is my focus.So it is good, but you still need other help. I saw has very good general material in Grammar and Cultural aspects from America and Spain, history, art, etc. The other part of the content I only overview because as I said. I am fluent in Spanish.

The publisher offers a free DVD and has asked me to post an Amazon review in order to get the DVD. I'm still working through this study guide and am not scheduled to take the test for another 6 weeks so not certain how it's going to help me yet. (I'll try and remember to update this after taking and passing the test so I can comment on how it helped or didn't help).One concern of mine right now is that I've caught several typos/grammatical errors in the manual. Especially annoying to me is their incorrect use of the phrase "pre-Colombian" throughout the first section (Cultural Understanding). It's supposed to be pre-Columbian (Columbus) not pre-Colombian (like Colombia, the country).Here's my breakdown of this guide so far:"Cultural Understanding" - This is the first section and provides summaries of important authors, artists, key events as well as an overview of Latin American countries (including Spain)."Instructional Assessment" - Overview of different theories of language acquisition"Spelling, Pronunciation, Punctuation, Grammar" - I am a native Spanish speaker (spoke it at home) so this is a good review of the grammatical rules."Practice Test" - Haven't done it yet.

Not enough examples. You will need more material to practice. Buy the Texes 613 exam because it has more pedagogy's explanations.

I think it is an excellent resource. I truly like the way it is organized, and how simple it is. The reason why I gave 4 out of 5 points is that I would have enjoyed having at least two or three practice test. However, overall it is an excellent tool for test prep

The book is very good, and is helping me in preparing for my test. The part of the language education is grate. Is giving me the skills that I need before the test. I need to reviewed me grammar, and this book is helping me.

-I was in a such a panic while studying for this exam. I have taken three practice exams prior to knowing about this study guide, and the results were not my best. Reading the first pages of this book it gave me sense of relaxation and understanding why I was getting such bad grades.I came about this book online while searching for other practice exams, and I am so glad I found it, thus my high rating on this book. I'm looking forward in taking the exam.

This book has very good information. I am rating it a 3 because I cannot highlight any of the pages since the highlighter bleeds through.
