Fills a need, but.....
This is a nice mostly pictures book. I am a little disappointed in the scope and range of the images it has. Of course, it's someone's collection and that explains the lack of overall range. There are too many of similar styles shown, and to my eyes, most were created by craftsmen. I gravitate toward the more tribally made, used and hand-carved ones. For some reason, those that look like shiny and glossy pieces of art don't give me the human connection of being used.I was looking for a book that has a broader scope of examples. I am just discovering African headrests, so I'm in the education and exposure phase. I found the greatest example of the range and styles on Pinterest. Although Pinterest gives me no context in which to place an headdrest regarding the culture there are great and beautiful headrests to look at in this book and on Pinterests. Also, for a novice like me,browsing on the internet gives many good examples of headrests, often in the context of a culture and region.
