Good book about a misunderstood pirate.
This book is a history of the pirate blackbeard or thatch teach or whatever his name really was. It really helps breakdown the man from the myth and helps set to rights the true story of a misunderstood pirate!

My Blackbeard Fan Hubby LOVED This Gift!!
This gift for my husband was a huge hit! He is very much into Blackbeard the Pirate and quite knowledgeable and this taught him even more than he already knew. He has already read it several times. A really great gift for anyone who's into Blackbeard. Highly recommend.

Great historical research
If you like history then you will love this book. Like all good historians he doesn't just tell you the story but he tells you how he knows the story. There are too many historians who just tell you the story but never tell you how they came about the facts or what facts cause them to interpret the story a certain way but this author does. The only complaint I have about this book and the reason I only gave it 4 stars is that it is not strictly chronological. Although it begins with the origin of Blackbeard and ends with his death and effect on society since then, in the middle it jumps forward and jump backwards and jumped forward and jumps backward several times causing me to get a little confused concerning the chronology of Blackbeard's exploits. Don't get me wrong the book is very well written and I enjoyed every page I just wish it was in a more strict chronological order that's all.

Blackbeard; America's Most Notorious Pirate
I would not call this a novel, but a historical account of the life and times of Black Beard. If you are interested in the subject matter the book is very informative.

Great Read, Very Entertaining
My first pirate book read....but I'm hooked!! (get it?? "hooked"??)Konstam I'm assuming is extremely researched in early 1700 history and pirates. He writes in a very readable and entertaining way. Hard to put the book down. The topic is very addicting. I highly recommend this book!

Informative enjoyable read
Really enjoyed this. Well written and engaging. I liked the historic details, too, for context; and the references to other pirates which helped me to imagine the atmosphere of the time. The author appears to aim for accuracy and even-handedness, too. Good read, altogether.

very interesting.

feeling a little disappointed.
I found this book problematic because I seemed to have read half the book about context and ancillary figures of the age before the got much about Blackbeard himself. Regret to say I just gave up, feeling a little disappointed.

Good Pirate History
Overall I would say that this book is worth reading because there is a lot of info on the way the pirate community worked, both within and outside. I was somewhat disappointed because the author did not travel in one straight historical line - instead he kept jumping back and forth which made things confusing. It's title is somewhat ambiguous as, though Blackbeard is the prominent figure, the books goes into a lot more detail than just Blackbeard. You will learn of other pirates of the same era and all the dealings that went on between them and those in legal positions of authority (Colonial Governors). If you can stand the jumping back and forth of historical dates, then you should be OK and find this book both entertaining and informative.
