First impression - awesome shoes
Review: Merrell Chameleon 8 Stretch (Size 7) – First Impressions Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Initial Experience) I recently purchased the Merrell Chameleon 8 Stretch in Dark Chocolate. Below are my first impressions after an initial unboxing and a brief trial run. I plan to provide a long-term update after more mileage, but here is how they perform right out of the box. Fit & Comfort Zero Break-in Period: Usually, Merrells take about a week to break in. Remarkably, these felt comfortable immediately. Sizing: I tested these with thick hiking socks; the fit was perfect—neither too tight nor too loose. Arch Support: The built-in arch support is a standout feature. It provides a noticeable lift without feeling "overdone" or intrusive. Interior Feel: The inside feels roomy and comfortable, providing a slight, pleasant warmth. Design & Build Quality Material: The dark chocolate leather feels genuine and high-quality to the touch. The design is rugged and features a unique pattern that stands out from typical hiking footwear. Lacing System: Note that these feature elastic stretch laces for a snug grip rather than traditional tie-laces. Weight: They have a solid, "considerable" weight to them, but they do not feel overly heavy or clunky. Performance & Traction Traction: The Vibram® outsole features deep lugs. Based on the design, I expect these to handle mud, rocky terrain, and gravel with ease. Mobility: As a low-profile shoe (no high ankle support), they allow for a great range of motion, which I find much more comfortable for long-distance walking. Ground Feel: After a short walk on grass/lawn, the shoes felt stable and ready for the trail. Minor Observations Removal: Because of the secure stretch fit, taking the shoes off using your other foot (hands-free) is a bit difficult, though this is a minor trade-off for such a secure fit. Road Use: While designed for trails, I intend to test these on paved roads for a 3–4 mile walk soon to see how the lugs and cushioning hold up on harder surfaces. Final Verdict I am very excited to start my next hiking journey in these. If you are looking for a rugged, authentic-feeling hiking shoe that is comfortable from the very first minute, the Chameleon 8 Stretch is an excellent contender.

Repeat customer for these durable shoes
Love these shoes. I’ve been buying a pair every year for many years. They’re rugged and durable. I’m rough on shoes so they need to be. The size is good and they’re comfortable. I have been putting in my own arch support soles the last year or so. I walk and hike and even snowblow in them. Highly recommend.

Buy them when you can!
Aside from the synthetic upper material developing an uneven shine over time, these are still my favorite pair of shoes. Vibram soles look new, laces are good, and the fully gusseted tongue makes them worth every penny.

More natural material.
It’s really comfortable product very light and flexible, the only thing I don’t like on it it’s to much synthetic material instead of natural fabric or leather the older version was a way higher quality less plastic material more breathable, beside that I really like this shoes. however in few days wearing it the right side nose pealed off from fabric and also it’s really difficult to put on your feet since the opening it’s to tight and can’t be released, it’s to closed but also not venting to much my feet was sweating in it a loot, I decided to return it, over all comfort was good, but to much straggle to put on my feet and sweating in it I had to give up on it.

Very durable!
I discovered merrells about 5 years ago, and now it's the only brand I'll buy. I put more miles on my shoes than most people do with their cars. The biggest thing for me is the soles, they actually last. Even when they do wear down, they still have decent grip. Also the side wall where the pinky and big toe are, I usually bust holes right there with any other brand. They're extremely comfortable. I really like the way they hug your feet, but they're not too tight. When I ordered the chameleon 8s I didn't realize they had no shoesteings till I received them. I was a little concerned about that at first, but I actually really like having the elastics pull tie set up over strings. The best part is, the more you wear them, the more comfortable they become!

Perfect Hikers
I purchased these for my husband, who loves to hike. I tried them on today (yes, we are the same shoe size, though my feet are a bit narrower), and they are incredibly comfortable. I will definitely be getting myself a pair. My foot feels very secure, with no sliding toes when walking downhill. They offer great grip and support on the bottom. I also love that there are no laces to tie; I can just tighten them with the plastic slide. If you hike, these are a must-have!

These are the best, hope they don't discontinue them any time soon.
I really love these shoes and have bought 3 pairs over the past few years which I wear every day all day for work (construction) they are light weight, breathable , do not need to be tied which is really nice, shoe laces can be a hazard in my trade. they feel good on my feet, need no breaking in and last a long time. also seems to not get smelly. they also look good, better in person than this picture looks.

Merrell stretch
Fabulously comfortable shoes, and so convenient with the stretch system. Long lasting and nice design. The black on black isn’t great compared to the other combinations but they were near £40 cheaper! Merrell seem to have made these very expensive for non waterproof shoes, and also difficult to get in popular sizes for some reason

Excelente zapato

Feels amazing
Love Merrell. Bought a pair of Moab shoes about a year ago, they seem durable, but honestly the comfort factor just isn’t there. No support at all. These shoes however, are what I’d expect from Merrell! It’s only been a day since I got them, but SUPER comfortable. I’ve read durability is great, but obviously can’t comment on that yet. They fit like a glove, and support my feet so much that I hate going inside and having to take them off.
