Secrets of the Bayeux Tapestry

Excellent
Obtained for gaining a better view of said tapestry, this edition did exactly what was required. Short historical detail given, so fact enthusiasts will need a fuller version, but this fulfilled its need here and gave a good pictorial view of things.A good introduction to the story or tell the story or recount of it for children with initial adult input.

Slight, but nicely illustrated
Perhaps the Union Jack on the front cover should have warned me that 'Secrets of the Bayeux Tapestry' is a pretty unsubstantial offering; it's more like the lightweight guide book that you'll flick through when visiting a tourist attraction than a scholarly tome that you'll pore over for weeks. (Standard stuff for a Pitkin book I suppose - just note that it is a mere 32 pages.)The book goes over the usual theories and mysteries behind the Tapestry, and illustrates them nicely, with photos of relevant sites and near-contemporary illustrations.
