Never shuts off, waste of money and electicity
Does not shut off once reaching temperature wasting electricity and slowly getting colder and colder. Non ac setting sounds as loud as the ac, and barely feels like a box fan. Refused to fix or accept return. Do not waste your money

It cools if installed correctly, but has its drawbacks.
The people claiming it doesn't cool their room probably aren't exhausting the hot air out of their room/house properly. The units cools the room size it claims very well.BUT, the fan stays on when the compressor shuts off, so it sounds like it stays on constantly. I'd rather it shut off entirely once at temp. Also, the remote is junk. It doesn't stay synced to the unit, and won't even turn it on/off every time. No joke. The remote IS a joke.If you plan to put it in a grow tent, don't. It has to be out outside the grow tent and the cool air ducted in, while ducting the hot air outside. Try it and you'll see why.Overall I don't know whether to return the unit or not. It's not great, but it cools fast if the hot air is exhausted outside properly, and I'm not sure other units will be much better. If you don't care about having a working remote, and you don't mind a fan that never shuts off, this may work for you.Oh and btw, you need to drain the water often unless you can hook up a hose to a drain tub. These portable AC units aren't all they're cracked up to be, and you're better off running your central/main AC almost constantly rather than adding this thing. It uses 1000 watts btw. Which will likely be half of the power on that rooms breaker.

So far it's perfect!!
So far works perfectly!! BUT we have so far had a mild Texas summer. I hope it works on our hot hot summer nights. We only use it at night because we love to be super cool while sleeping. I hope I don't have to change my review. 😥

I bought an LG portable air conditioner like this one and it lasted all of 3 summers ...
Do not buy this or any LG product! I bought an LG portable air conditioner like this one and it lasted all of 3 summers (and the summers are short where I live). After that, it barely cooled at all. I contacted LG, and it turns out that they have very few US repair centers -- none was within 1,000 miles of me -- and they would not make good on the faulty unit. Local repair shop said that it was not built to be repaired by third parties; it was a write-off of nearly $500 after only 3 years. Do not buy LG products. They are cheap, shoddy, and do not last. Get a quality brand like Frigidaire instead.

not too cool
No temperature regulation/ auto feature. I would prefer if I could set it to 68 degrees and walk away and count on it turning off and on as needed. Instead, you either let it run the entire day, or set it on a timer and forget to turn it back on until it's already too hot, where it will then need to run for hours on end to bring the temperature down again. On that note, it also doesn't go as low in temperature as my two older window units --it seldom feels like it's ever blowing out cold air, in comparison...just semi-cool air. I think I figured it out why, though...it's because unlike most window units I've used, this unit isn't concerned with a target living space temperature, instead, you are adjusting the temperature of the air coming out of the unit, where the lowest is 62 degrees. 62 degree air cannot cool down a 500 square foot living space that is 90+ degrees and humid...where as, a common window unit will blow out extremely cold air --if you stood in front of one it would feel like it's blowing out 50 degree air, while the temperature you set it to is the target environment temperature. This at least feels to be the case, but maybe I'm completely wrong. He seems to claim that it has to do with the tiny exhaust port. We end up using the window unit for the living room and this one for the bedroom. We initially got this unit for our living room.
