Induction Cooktop
I had another type of induction cooktop and loved it. It finally went out but I still had the pans I used. When I first purchased this product I only used a small skillet to cook eggs in. The other day I decided to boil some eggs so used a small pan I had used with my other induction cooktop. It wouldn't work. I called the mfg. today and they can not tell me what the problem is. One pan works where the other one won't. I am extremely frustrated as I like the cooktop but can't find but one skillet that will work on it. The other pans I tried, worked great on the other cooktop. I even tried a magnet on the bottom and it held on all the pans. These pans are sold for induction cooktops. I can't send it back because I don't have the boxes it came in. Just can't tell you how frustrated I am.

Some design issues, but really excellent customer service . . .
UPDATE - February 2018Well, problem solved. I contacted customer support in New York and left a message. They called back, which was already a miracle, and after a pleasant conversation with the very helpful representative, they agreed to send me a replacement. This was above and beyond, given that responsibility for the damage caused by the hot pan could easily be ascribed to me. There's still an issue with that design flaw, but Gourmia definitely deserve a couple of stars back for handling the situation so easily and fairly. I would definitely buy from them again. Thanks.UPDATE - January 2018I finally ran into the problem that a lot of other reviews mentioned. I slid a pan forwards to get it off the heat, and the hot pan melted the plastic cover over the LED display. Now there's a big hole above an electronic component and it's impossible to clean the unit properly without getting water down into parts that I'm pretty sure don't want to get wet. This is a major design flaw, and, along with the egregiously noisy fan, moves this from my "recommended with caveat" list to the one that recommends you look elsewhere.I love how quickly this heats a pan. I don't own a microwave, and it makes warming food through super-easy; just add a little water, close the lid, and in 3 or 4 minutes, things are hot and ready to eat. The same action would take more than twice as long on a conventional electric ring, so five stars for efficiency there. The downside is the incredibly noisy fan that runs the whole time the unit is working, and for some time afterwards as it cools. It's louder than the fan in my hood, and with both running together, my little kitchen registers 98db on my phone's audio meter. Admittedly, my kitchen is small, and I live in a quiet canyon, so it's more inconvenient for me than most, but you should definitely be expecting a fair amount of noise from this baby.

Great Product,, Excellent Price
We are waiting for the appliance sales next year, to buy an induction cooktop. In the meantime, I wanted to try something less expensive, to make sure that I liked induction cooking before spending a thousand plus dollars. This was the least expensive and had amazing reviews, so we bought one, and after the first use we loved it. Water does boil very quickly which is a real plus for making pasta, tea, etc. It did an amazing job on the gluten free pasta. As soon as the water came to a boil the second time, I added the pasta, turned off the burner, put a lid on the pot, and let it rest about ten minutes. After I drained it, I had perfect pasta. Scrambled eggs were ridiculously easy with this too. Super fast, and they turned out soft and creamy. Eggs and pasta can be finicky, so that's why those were the first two things I made. This cooks everything so easily and it is not at all difficult to use. The directions are pretty limited, but they will tell you everything you need to know. We like this so well that we are buying a second one, and I will be doing all my cooking on these. Currently we have an older ceramic cooktop that is a pain to clean. This cleans easily with just a fast wipe, and no aggravation. I love using this amazing little gadget. I did have to switch my cookware back to stainless steel, which is fine, because I prefer cooking with that, as opposed to the mystery metal that my son got for me! There are no downsides to this so far. It cooks things quickly and evenly and is a breeze to clean. It is also wonderfully affordable, and does what it is supposed to. I am totally sold on this. It was an impulse buy that has reaped big dividends for me. I only wish I had bought it sooner and had bought two the first time. These are supposed to be cheaper to use than the electric ceramic cooktop we currently have and hate, so that's another plus. Cook faster, cook better, save money. Epic win!

Missing fine control at temperatures around boiling may frustrate you
The price can't be beat, but for that low price, there are some limitations to its flexibility in cooking. Most limiting are the lower heat settings, which are achieved by running the heat for a short time, then turning it off, and repeating this cycle, as with a microwave oven. That means that rather than evenly simmering, a pot cooking at even the lowest setting is periodically boiling, then off, then boiling, then off, and so forth. In addition the heat "levels" on the low end are too far apart: setting 2 is 190F, with setting 3 at 260F. Surely bringing setting 3 down closer to boiling, say at 225F would enable the cook to create a slow boil, and having only a single "warm" setting at 160F is quite limiting. Finally, the cooktop has too small a diameter to handle large frying pans or dutch ovens -- the outer white ring marked on the top is only 7 inches in diameter, and the whole cooktop is 11 inches wide, although the heating element underneath does not extend all the way to the edge.Because of these limitations, I'll be upgrading to a more flexible induction cooktop(Edited 2/2016 to correct details of low-end temp settings)

Great machine for the price
Great value, but would be helpful to state that you cannot use all types of cookware as it is a magnetic cook top. Other than that it works really well and heats up very fast. I would recommend it.

Great
This works better than my ceramic cooktop. It heats up so much faster. I bought it so I could deep fry outside, and not pump out so much heat in the house during summer. But, now I use it for all my cooking whether I'm inside or outside.

Very disappointed
I bought an $800.00 set of Lagostina induction ready pots and pans and can only use three of the pots. The two smaller sizes cause an E1 reading on Gourmia. This induction cooker has two white rings on the glass leading me to believe that it should operate properly for the two smaller pots as well as larger ones ...nope it does not nor does it work for the induction ready Heritage Roc frying pan. The Gourmia blames the pots and want to charge me to return their cooktop and furthermore pay to fix it. They should have sent me a new one immediately...nope. Do not buy this product. I am stuck with using only large pots. Try boiling an egg in a large pot!!!!

Easy to use, I usually only use the power level settings (not the temperature or timer settings). I love that it makes a noise when you remove the pot or pan from the top because it saves energy and makes sure you don't burn yourself. Super easy to wipe clean after use. Pretty straight forward.
