Barkworthies All Natural Dog Treats - Protein Rich Kangaroo Jerky Dog Treats

Update: About 18 months ago, I wrote a one star review reporting that two bags of Barkworthies kangaroo jerky that I had just received contained live insects. That incident was after several years of my dog enjoying this product immensely and without incident. I waited about six months after the bugs-in-the-bags disappointment, then started ordering the product again with no further incidents until this week. Alas, my most recent order of four bags was either counterfeit or further proof that there are serious problems at the Barkworthies' packaging plant. While the bags that contained the product looked the same as usual, the product itself was not kangaroo jerky, but rather some strange substance akin to pressed sawdust. Some other recent reviewers received the same substance and have posted photos here on Amazon. I have written Barkworthies about this and will update with what I hear from them.

Contents look nothing like online photos. Kangaroo Jerky has the appearance of being processed/cut into rectangles. The pieces have a dark color, moist texture, and are thick and tough to break or tear. I've been buying these for years and never got anything that looks like this. Very disappointed in this Barkworthies product - even more disappointed that they are "not returnable".

Perfect bribe for that picky dog in your life! My German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix and Belgian Malinois LOVE these treats. High reward value makes these perfect for when we are working on advanced skills and behaviors. They were also perfect for a loose dog running around. Nothing else worked but the Kangaroo jerky did the trick! He quickly went from being reserved and ignoring me to following me around and letting me handle him. The strips are easy to break apart into smaller bits for training and are amazing for dogs with sensitivities and/or allergies since the only ingredient is Kangaroo (one of the best proteins for dogs with allergies or sensitivities). This is one treat that is always in my house and will continue to be. It doesn't smell or leave a greasy residue like other treats. With a working service dog these are amazing and I cannot say enough good things, these continue to be in my secret stash for emergency situations or sudden need for a training session.

My dog had to do an elimination diet trial to check for food allergies. She was in Royal Canin Kangaroo and Oat, which meant she could only really have kangaroo and oats. These treats are 100% kangaroo so they are allergy friendly. She is off of the diet now, but still loves these treats.

My dog loves these. He has a lot of skin issues so trying different proteins. For anyone who is not sure about Kangaroo, it's a winner.

I was surprised and, in the end, pleased to find the product had changed from the actual dehydrated kangaroo as shown on the packaged to an extruded product that doesn't have the dangerous very sharp points on each piece, since I was breaking them into pieces for training rewards. The new type is tough so I have to cut it up with scissors for reward size. They are - for now - her favorite treat. I rated the "flavor" as what Sweetie seems to rate it !! It is expensive, but she has liked all the kangaroo treats we've gotten from this company.

Pure bred boxer with skin allergies love these things. Seem like the only treats that agree with him. I also buy the ribs and break off a couple for him every now and then and he crunches through them like butter. Keeps his teeth nice and pearly white too!

Item was purchased out of curiosity to offer our 4 mutts a new flavor from their typical treats. The treats are not inexpensive per ounce and were more like kangeroo crackers, dried bark that snapped into chards upon their eating. Not sure if they were old or meant to be brittle. In any case, the dogs eat them but showed no interest in seeking more.

My dog is very sensitive to food in his old age, and is on a strictly Kangaroo diet, he has had problems with other Kangaroo treats but not these ones, no reaction at all from these and he really seems to like them, just wish shipping was a bit quicker.

My labrador/golden retriever is hypersensitive to any food except kangaroo so finding treats was quite difficult. Thank you for making these! He has had zero reaction to this treat and is very grateful!
