Fundamentals of Drawing Landscapes by Barrington Barber (2004) Paperback Paperback – January 1, 2004

This book is great. It describes the materials needed for good drawing, then describes many different types of landscape forms, including trees and rocks, that the reader might want to draw. Very clear writing, with many examples from classical art, as well as examples of different things, ranging from trees to mountains. Highly recommend. PS: Arrived quickly and was well packed.

Fun an engaging, this book is a good reference to come back at any time, it’s easy to follow and full of beautiful pencil landscape illustrations.

I needed to improve my drawing. I was/am pretty good by normal ppl's standards-but that's only because normal ppl can't draw at ALL. Maybe you're like me.I wasn't/am not what I call a phenomenal drawer and I need/needed to move up to the next level in ability. This book is good for ppl in my spot.What I needed, and probably you too, was efficient guidance effectively presented-so I can rapidly read and analyze it, it compared to my skill, it compared to what interests me/what I desire, presentations of examples, techniques, REMOVAL of the parts of a composition while one studies the OTHER parts of a drawing/composition, a breakdown, assessment and evaluation, and examples I can mimic.I get all of this from this book.If this author/tutor makes more book I am DEFINITELY buying them-this author really is that good. THIS book is a book every person who can draw really ought to get. Scrimp and save on something else-as soon as u can, you do YOU a favor and definitely buy THIS book if u wish an efficient resource for improving ur drawings.Thank God there are ppl on the planet like THIS person making quality education material.Some ppl for some reason have that special quality-THIS author has THAT. You'll see.

It’s an excellent reference book for drawing landscapes; trees, water, mountains etc. so useful!! I bought this one for my sister.

A very educational book though all drawings are by the author and are copied by him from famous Artists Work......

This is good introductory book on drawing landscapes. It starts with the basic skills and techniques. The underlying concepts and thoughts of the author are also explained and illustrated in the text and drawings. Eventually as a reader I am invited to join the author in his creative journey from his home to the nearby park and hills.Through this trip he is able to show how a piece of art work is produced in reality.

still learning

I have found that any Barrington Barber drawing books to be great tools for learning to draw. They really helped me to learn the correct way to shade and give objects the proper shape. I recommend all of this authors books. I have purchased four of them and found them all very useful!!!

Great read with most landscape features covered and lots of very good example drawing which can serve as reference. However it lacks details of some features, like grass and snow, and focuses mainly on overall features rather than fine details. But this is an excellent read, definitely recommended.

I loved perusing all the examples in this book. So many wonderful suggestions of how to approach various subjects. Yes, I am hooked on just a pencil and a piece of paper. So inspiring for me.

Being about to go for a different style of painting, this has really helped enormously in my drawing of landscaped. It is written in an easy style and both the illustrations and the writing are very legible. The author Barrington Barber has pitched this bookso it can be used by the complete novice and the more advanced artist alike.
