The system comes with a start-up shock called FROG Jump Start and an introductory bottle of FROG Test Strips. Keep the green holder while replacing the blue mineral cartridge every 4 months (or when you drain and refill your hot tub) and the yellow bromine cartridge every 2-4 weeks depending on use. *Compared to the minimum ANSI recommended bromine level of 2.0 ppm for a hot tub.

Modify and improvise
Like other reviews I read- this system is near impossible to maintain the minimum free chlorine levels, even cranked up to level 6 on a 315 gallon new spa.After a few months of doing everything correct and by the book and wasting $12 on new yellow canisters, I decided to do like others; keep using their mineral cartridges but pop open the top of the yellow one and fill with any brand spa bromine 1 inch TABLETS. I’ve been able to have consistent readings for free chlorine on only the (appropriate) level 2 setting. Lasts longer and actually works now!

Will not maintain bromine levels
Started with a fresh spa refill. Balanced levels and then shocked spa with supplied packet. Directions states a level four for my water capacity. Consistently received 0 on the test strips. Adjusted to a level 6 on the bromine cartridge, reshocked spa with nonchlorinating shock then retested. For the next 2 days of tests still getting a zero. Switched back to nature 2 mineral stick and a generic 1” sized bromine floater and tablets. Problems immediately resolved.

Perfect
I was a bit of a slacker at adding the chemicals to the hot tub as often as needed, this has been floating for about a month now and water stays nice and clean, not to stong but releases just enough to keep it nice, well worth the money.

Didn’t work.
Didn’t work at all in my 450 gallon hot tub. Bromine never was high enough. Amazon was great with a refund though.
