Not what it’s crack up to be
I bought this thinking it would be solid brass with some artificial aging. The only part that was brass was the gnomon. The rest was white metal painted to look like chemically aged brass. It also misspelled “The Best Is Yet To Be” and said “The Best 1s. Yet To Be” with a ‘one’ for the capital ’I’ and a period where it didn’t belong. I returned it and got a solid brass one for $60 less.

Worth about $20
I have never felt so ripped off with an Amazon item as I do with this sundial. It's partly my mistake-- I did not look at the size of 6" in diameter? Why not? Because I never dreamed in my wildest dreams that a sundial would be 6" in diameter. I have never seen one this small and I've seen many. So I was shocked when I arrived. Most people place sundials in their gardens. This one does not come with any sort of stand. So no matter how careful a gardener you are, a 6 inch sundial is going to get lost in the grass, or flowers, or weeds. You have to literally bend over and squint to even see the time or the inscription. It's very thin and hardly weighs anything. This thing is an absolute ripoff at $139.00. The two people who gave it 5 stars must own the company. ordered this to save as a special Christmas gift for my brother and his wife who just moved into a beautiful country home for their retirement with a gorgeous garden. This silly little sundial will get totally lost. I'd be embarrassed to give it to them so I guess I'm stuck with it.

Threads seem to be a weak point on an overall good product
I like it overall and it looks great sitting on a decorative post in the garden. It comes packed flat as two pieces and you attach the gnomon to the base with two screws. The included screws are terribly soft and there is not much thread engagement with the gnomon and the screw holes did not appear to be tapped holes, but rather the screws were meant to cut their own threads.I put it together, with the screw heads stripping slightly, and it's holding well enough that I put it out in the garden, but I do expect the first time it gets hit with a branch or otherwise knocked into, that it will come apart. It won't be damaged (probably), but at that point, I'll have to either drill and tap through holes and put steel bolts into it or otherwise find a way to put some harder fasteners in it.It's designed the way it is so that it will look the most beautiful (with the fasteners totally hidden), but I'm just not confident that they'll be strong enough. For now, four stars, because it does look good and even if the screws fail, it'll be an easy fix.

Fun gift for the garden.
My wife loves working in the garden or in the back yard of our house. She is often looking for fun and creative ways to add a nice touch to the yard. I saw this sun dial on Amazon and thought of her. The sentiment on the dial is nice if a little over used. However, any chance i get to let her know how much she means to me is taken if i can. I find it funny that one of the categories for the review of this product was accuracy! Assuming it is installed correctly a Sun dial is about the most accurate thing in the world. Recommended.

Time on my lands
Very attractive addition to any yard or garden areaI gave it a 5 star rating for accuracy because, if placed correctly, the battery will never die (there ain't one) and, in my lifetime at least, the sun will continueOf course, at night or on cloudy days it isn't worth much (heck! unlike the proverbial stopped clock, it isn't even right twice a day!) So,I guess you'll have to find some other way of telling time, then

Charming little sundial
This is a charming little sundial. On a stand or tucked into a flowerbed, it adds a sweet touch to your garden.I was also surprised, given the price, at how small and light it is.
