Salt Remote Control for Apple TV (Infrared, Original Edition, Free of Logos)

I understand that this remote was designed with some help from the folks at Apple and it actually is much better than the Siri Remote that comes in the box with the Apple TV. If you are looking for a simple button driven remote for the Apple TV, look no further. This works with your Apple TV right out of the box without any additional programming. The only thing missing is a microphone for Siri commands, but other than this, it is just about perfect in every way.

UPDATE 12/28/2020: I see that they've added "not compatible with Mitsubishi TV" since I returned mine.We're thinking about buying a new LG OLED TV and trying the remote again. But I don't know if it would be compatible. So I'm holding off.This is my update after hearing from the manufacturer:They were very attentive to my question about why I can't program the remote to operate my TV. But the answer isn't what I expected. "Your Mitsubishi TV is not on the list of compatible televisions."Really? That's a deal buster and I'll be applying for a return and full refund.They should publish their list of compatible televisions so we don't waste money and time.My original Review: The Apple TV box works perfectly with this remote. But it’s supposed to be able to control the TV set volume. There Is a set of instructions explaining how to program this remote, But I cannot get it to work! I’ve followed the simple instructions I’ve a dozen times. No joy yet.I hope I can come back and revise this review. I want it to work so badly. Cannot find any support. Maybe they’ll read this.

This is the remote that should be included with an Apple TV. As for the Apple remote, putting a trac-pad on a device this small is just asking for trouble. Plus it has no fast forward unless you want to hold down on the tack-pad all the time. This Remote corrects all of that and more. It will turn on and off my TV and adjust volume. Using the arrows is much easier than a pad. The fast-forward works well too. Really improved my Apple TV experience.

Don't think this device is going to work right out of the box. The instructions that come with it do not work for every setup. If you don't have a Samsung TV like me, it can be a real challenge. I was about to give up and return the item when the Seller provided some useful tips. This remote uses IR technology and not Bluetooth like the Siri remote that comes with AppleTV. Luckily for me, it did because my 4K AppleTV box works with IR as well and doesn't have to be in line-of-sight. The other headache was to get the VOL+- to work with the output to the Soundbar. Also, the device doesn't turn off the AppleTV and TV by just holding down the Power Button. You have to hold down the Power Button for 2 seconds, then release and press it again.

We have a hate hate relationship with the apple remote. This is the best.

We are watching tv exclusively on Apple TV. I hate the remote that came with the apple tv. This is a remote that works seamlessly with the apple tv. It has fast forward and rewind and skip ahead and back 15 seconds using buttons. Like an old school remote. So much better. It does not have any voice control. So you do have to keep the apple tv remote close if you want Siri. It can run the volume through your receiver and power on/off your system. Worth it to me, for sure.

This remote for the Apple TV is as advertised, “the remote Apple should have made”. It was easy to use right out of the box. Our VIZIO TVs as well. It’s size and texture makes it easier to handle without it slipping out of your hands. I especially find the selector buttons for navigating the screen so much better than sliding my finger as with Apples remote. It deserves a top rating. Only thing better would have been a keyboard.

I bought this remote for my parents as they were having issues understanding the touch pad on the remote apple provides. This remote removes this touch pad complexity and is much easier for them to use. The remote works out of the box with my apple tv. The set-up to connect to my tv was a few clicks and it was up and running allowing for power on/off and volume control. For anyone needing a simplified remote, this is a great alternative.

Bought the remote for my elderly mother in law who was struggling with the Apple remote. The buttons on this one makes it easy for her to control, she was struggling with slidding her finger on the original Apple remote. Price is a bit steep for my liking, but it was worth it for the independence it gave her.

Instead of that crappy trackpad remote that frustrates me, I now have a remote, with limited buttons, that does what it’s supposed to do. Apple - take note, this beats the snot outa your remote from Apple TV.
