Ok so! Nice light but! It did comes with an insert sheet with dos and donts, but no practical instructions on how to get it open where the switch and battery are etc. The top twists off counter clock wise to expose the LED, battery compartment and switch. You have to turn the switch “on” of course. The battery had some charge so if you place your hand over the sensor the LED will come on. The light will fit over a wood 4x4 or remove the plastic snap off bracket and it will fit over a PVC cover post nicely. It has two screw holes to fasten to the post. It will come on automatically when night falls.

I was excited to have these lights on my white 2-rail fence. They were easy to install and looked great....for the first 1-2 months. Now they are very yellowed and look rather old and grungy. The lighting element still works well. I have had to go knock on them a bit when they seem to be going dim. I guess it's the connections. I am really disappointed with the yellowing since they are on a nice, new white fence.

These post cap solar lights added the finishing touch to our new deck project. Beautiful night lights as well. Only issue is that one of the lights does not burn as brightly as the rest.

I received my lights and they are packaged really good and shipping was fast. I just built my pool deck and was excited to finish it up with some post lights, I have wood 4x4 post but when I tried to screw on my lights I found that they not a true fit, I measure the post again just to make sure they are truly a 4x4 and measure the inside diameter of the plastic molding for the lights and found that the manufacture light molding is too small by 1/8" all away around, so I had to trim my post to make them fit. They do not put off a lot of light but I did not want a lot of light around the deck so fo my purpose it worked ok. I have not used them long enough to tell you that they last. there are better brands that I purchased for pvc post than these.

When we replaced these, we were excited to have these lights match the rails and have working lights again. In less than a year and a half, we have been trying to figure out what to do. We have pressure washed them and they are still so discolored and ugly!

These look nice and work well when you first set them up.During first year a few stopped working - I had to tap on them to get them to work intermittently. Several had the sensor start to get cloudy which stopped the batteries from charging. Then the twist on tops that contain the LED started falling off or the mounting bases I guess from the sun beating on the plastic.OK if you dont mind replacing them every year.

Very disappointed. Sent them back and bought another brand. The other brand is working great.----------------When I received the solar post caps, I immediately noticed the paint was very thin, already chipping along the edges and wasn't really a copper color. Not as attractive as pictured and clearly the paint wasn't going to last more than a season.But, I tried them. I put one out on a table, in bright sun for two full days and it didn't work, didn't light up. Tried with a second one. Same thing.In the instructions they mention an ON button. Three of us hunted for this mystery button and couldn't find it (did they send the wrong one?). Looks good (copper color), better placement of the solar panels (make sure you aim them south and west), they lit up right away and they look good and stay on until about 5 am which is more than we expected. Also a little brighter than expected (didn't need to be bright, but we can site on the deck and enjoy the ambience).I was very unhappy with the first product (8 Pack Copper Outdoor Garden 4 x 4 Solar LED Post Deck Cap), but very happy with the other brand I purchased as a substitute.
