Keeps your attention
Having read some of Daniel's other books, I think in this one he found his voice and I finished it over 2 days. Its a result of a year long writing workshop at the Loft literary center in Minneapolis. Like all good writing he doesn't tell you what to think but simply relates the story which in this case are some of the significant chapters of his life--growing up, the loss of his mother, his experience as a teacher, the friendship with a spiritual mentor who introduces him to his wife and of course the dog he came to love. These are all very prosaic but the stuff that most lives are made of and hence very easy to relate to. I also found it interesting that although the book consists of separate chapters which take place sometimes years apart there are also somewhat surprising links such as rediscovering the 6th grader who insulted him on his first day of teaching (chapter 3) right after he retired (last chapter). Everything is related to everything and as the title implies a little bit alright.

Engaging Read
I really enjoyed Daniel’s new book! It’s very engaging, clear minded, humble and honest. I loved reading how Daniel applies his yoga and meditation to not only center and guide himself but others as well. He shows its all about the practice-not what you know but what you do. Daniel demonstrates skillful action on every turn his life takes. He paints a picture of searching, finding and creating a life with meaning, purpose and love. You will find a friend in ”Everything Is A Little Bit Alright.”J. Sheehan

Highly recommended!
This is a warm hearted and humble memoir that is also a page turner. Daniel’s honest and intelligent narrative is engaging, entertaining but Is also instructive. He demonstrates from personal experiences how to deal with life’s stresses and challenges through the application of simple practices he learned from the Himalayan Yoga tradition. An easy and engrossing read!

A page turner
Daniel takes the reader through various relatable adventures and challenges of his life in a very engaging and seamless manner, which makes this book a page turner. A slow reader like me finished it within 4 days. There was so much to learn from his life experiences and the way he conquered/tackled them with hard-work, perseverance, dedication and use of various meditative practices. I would highly recommend this book !

Gratitude is a gift to yourself
Everything Is a Little Bit Alright: Yoga, Meditation, and a DogThis book, by Daniel Hertz, is truly a beautiful tribute to those who touched his life, and a gift for all who may read these heart-warming stories. He poured deep sentiments into whimsical stories to create a spirited narrative that flows with humor and deep insights. The art of self-transformation is no better explained than through his gracious rendering of insights whereby he discovered gratitude in each moment. I can only look forward to his next book where we can all benefit from his life-experiences during retirement.

Life lessons from a great teacher
Daniel’s memoir was inspiring. It left me wanting to follow his example by engaging in “a relentless practice of gratitude.” What a great perspective to bring to daily life. Thank you, Daniel. I don't practice yoga or meditation but appreciated the life lessons contained in this honest and humorous work of self-reflection.

A wonderful and heartfelt memoir.
A pleasant meditation on life full of insight and wisdom. Daniel Herz recounts the relationships and experiences that most shaped his life. Each chapter is accompanied by a yoga pose that matches the theme of the chapter. At times funny and at times sad Daniel is always very honest.

What’s most important is that I plan to read his first two books as well!
Daniel Hertz’s book is delightful and each chapter is cleverly started! Having met both Daniel and his wife gave me no idea of their remarkable life. A great read!
