Very good for price
I was excited to receive this keyboard as a way to advance my piano skills. I would say I'm an amateur and this keyboard does everything to suit my needs. It has more than enough instrument and voice settings for anyone looking to mess around with that. The keys sound and feel great when you press on them.Although I have not personally used the dual keyboard for a teacher, it is a very nifty feature to have on a keyboard, although there's not much indicating where the keyboard restarts for the student. You can play the keyboard whenever you want with the headphones so only you can hear. The volume knob has a good variety as well, so if you prefer, you can listen to yourself play very loudly. The automatic turning off feature is also nifty as sometimes you just forget to turn it off so it does it itself. All in all, for someone like me, it is a great keyboard to have. There could be more keys, but for the price it is perfect. There is even an option to add a sustain pedal if you like. If you need something from beginner to amateur, this is definitely a recommended keyboard.

Great keyboard
The last time I played a piano was 50 years ago, and I wanted to play again. When I got this Yamaha keyboard, I was so excited. It can basically play the piano, but it has so much more. Tempos, chords, dance styles...it has everything and more that one would possibly want. The only thing it doesn't have is a full keyboard of 88 keys, it only has 61. When I get better at playing it, I will definitely upgrade to a full 88 keys! It's a great instrument to have!

I got this for my mom for Christmas. She has horrible arthritis, like her right fingers don't go straight anymore. But she always dabbled with the piano and this thing is perfect. She's not computer savvy and is able to fiddle with this like a pro. It's not bulky, so doesn't take up a lot of space. The earphones work well enough, just make sure you get the little piece out of the packaging because I almost missed it. Would buy again.

Would have bought YPT 230 based on its' reviews
We just received this kit in a packing box which was ripped open, but apparently all the component parts of our order were there. I had not watched the keyboard stand setup video before purchase or setup. It would have saved me some time setting up the stand since I had to figure out the geometry of the parts on my own. I had it set up and working in about 45 minutes including the seat that we ordered separately. My wife was very concerned that the on-line YouTube instructional videos that she found for the YPT 230 would not work with this model. It was a difficult decision, but the list of enhancements and the lower price for a "new" item sold us on this one.The Yamaha web site support for the device has yet to be evaluated, but our musical friends told us it was the best "beginner support" setup available for purchasers of electronic keyboards. I am looking forward to the upgraded "play along with" features that were not on the YPT 230. You can put an MP3 or other format digital sound segment on a device like a smart phone or an MP3 player, plug an "aux in" line into the back of the keyboard and get something to play along with from the vast library of digital music available today.I built a 61 key Zuckerman Harpsichord kit for my wife 30 years ago, and shortly after it was completed, she badly burned a hand and felt unable to play it. Finally, now that we are retired, we are back to working on keyboard skills. This unit has the advantage that it does not require "fiddly tuning effort" all the time, and it is a lot easier to schlep around since moving the harpsichord requires at least two people, and can often trigger additional maintenance efforts before it is playable at a new location.

Great sound for practicing. Very lightweight, but witwh solid performance.
This has such a satisfying key action, and the sound is such a pleasure. The sound is better than a $1000 unit I own with extended capability for creating my own music. I wish I had chosen the Yamaha brand for my uptic music production unit.

This was for my 11 year old son who wanted to learn how to play the piano. The order was here by Christmas and he has not stopped playing. Even my 10 year old is now using it. It has many features including a embedded teaching guide which is awesome. Extremely easy set up for the stand and the headphones are awesome. Fantastic for the money. After all, It is a Yamaha.

The keybord is good, but with that price you can buy a better one.
The keyboard is really good. but if you are a beginner, it's not a good option. I doesn't have weighted keys and it's not touch sensitive. If you like this model, you can buy it, but as you play it you are going to feel the difference between a good keyboard that is going to help you to learn

Great keyboard!!!
Bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter who plays the violin but wanted to branch out into another instrument. This keyboard exceeded my expectations. There are so many voices, some fun and some instrumental. The sound and functionality are great. We had a blast playing with it and my daughter loves it!
