Great case.
Just purchased my third case, but not because of defects. Case #1 was purchased 3-4 years ago and when I upgraded my iPad, I bought a new case. I am still using my original case with my old iPad. Accidentally broke off a piece on the end near the charging port on case #2 which left a sharp edge so case #3 is on the way. While I sometimes change cases (mostly for travel due to the overall weight of the iPad in the NEW TRENT case) I always come back to this case.Pros:1. Great value for the price. Sturdy.2. Cutouts line up with ports and such on the iPad. Rubber tab to hold the case together when closed.3. Able to orient the iPad in multiple directions/orientations, including 180 degrees and close flat on keyboard. Rotating hardware is sturdy and despite my re-orientation multiple times a day, has not loosened or become wobbly.4. Case/keyboard holds a charge for a long time. (Note: I do not use my iPad as my main computer, but may use the keyboard for about an hour a day.) Caveat: I tend to turn off the keyboard when not using it.5. Bluetooth keyboard connects quickly. I have had not Bluetooth connection issues with either of the cases.6. Keyboard keys are more similar to a Windows desktop computer than a Mac. They are plastic with smooth typing action which I prefer.7. Sleep function: when the case closes, the iPad is put to sleep.Cons:1. Weight. The case with the iPad is fairly weighty feeling. As noted in other reviews, it is top heavy if you are not working on a firm surface or don’t have the balance bar extended. (another Pro - I often use the balance bar as a carry handle.)2. While the iPad portion of the screen is detachable, when removed there is a large “cut out” along the side connecting to the keyboard which for me is awkward. If I want to use the iPad flat, I rotate the screen 180 and “close” the case with the iPad screen face up.3. Moderately difficult to remove from the case. The iPad snaps into the case securely and is a bit difficult to remove (a good thing in my opinion and the reason I accidentally broke off a piece on the end.)4. Not necessarily a con - Adaptors: with my first case, I had issues when I wanted to use an HDMI adaptor as the insert end was slightly larger in diameter than than the port opening on the case and I would have to pop the iPad out of the case. My current case (the one I broke) does not have that issue. Hopefully, case #3 which is on the way, will be the same.5. Not a con for me, but I could see the possibility of the rubber tab which helps to keep the case closed breaking or tearing off. I have never had that problem, but tend not to be rough with my tech (other than my struggle to remove this iPad from the case a couple weeks ago....) and no longer have young children at home (who are somehow creative enough to to figure out ways to break or dismantle all kinds of things!)Another note: case and keyboard only work in landscape (horizontal) orientation. By that I mean the iPad cannot be placed in Portrait mode (vertical) for typing - just like the screen of a laptop cannot be used in portrait mode. The iPad could be detached from the keyboard, set up on some type of holder in portrait orientation and used that way as the keyboard is Bluetooth and the iPad does not need to be connected to the case for the keyboard to work.I have seen other, more expensive, cases in a variety of colors (NEW TRENT is black only, which I prefer anyway) and with backlit keyboards (one of my personal preferences and NEW TRENT does not have) but have been so pleased with this case, I am hesitant spend more to possibly be disappointed.

Sturdy and practical case for typing and carrying around.
This iPad case does pretty much everything it claims to do, but just not as smoothly one would like. The swivel turns very well and is convenient when one doesn't wish to use the keyboard. You can turn the iPad all the way around and lay it flat on the keyboard thereby covering it. Once in the case your iPad can detach from the keyboard, though it's not the easiest thing to do. It requires two hands and I still need to practice some more before I can take it off effortlessly. Putting it back on is far easier as long as you're doing it at the right angle. Once again it just takes some practice and it should be fine. The first real setback that I noticed--just for what I'm using it for--is that the keys clack louder than I expected. I'm mainly concerned that it might be a slight disturbance in a quiet classroom setting, but I have yet to test it out when the teacher is talking. It's not as loud as an old school keyboard, but it's louder than other Bluetooth keyboards, especially more when you compare it to a laptop keyboard. The sound just isn't muffled as well. However, I am quite pleased with the typing experience as a whole. After using it for half an hour I can type pretty much as I normally would on a laptop. The backspace isn't too small as on other keyboards, and the extra command button keys they've added are very convenient. On the top left corner there is a home button key on the laptop--something that I didn't think I needed but now that it's there I appreciate it. There are also brightness and volume adjusters. I basically feel like I have my old netbook again, but infinitely better since it's an iPad. Sometimes I actually find myself feeling for the mouse pad underneath. The outer appearance is like that of a cheap netbook, hard black plastic, but I appreciate that since that will make my iPad less prone to theft. From first glance it definitely doesn't look like an iPad anymore. So if you're looking for an accessory that's sleek I would look elsewhere. But if you wish to protect your iPad and type easily, this is a pretty good choice. However, because of the material it does get greasy easily. It hasn't been long since I started using it (only a few hours) and it already has streaks. They're of course easily cleanable, but once again it's pretty much like using a cheap netbook.Other pluses are that upon closing the case your iPad is put to sleep as well. Also I feel that it's pretty sturdy on a desk as long as you don't tilt it too far back. Which leads to another negative. Because the black metal bar is what gives the case extra support for it to lean on, it completely doesn't work if you use this on your lap. The iPad is still heavier than the actual keyboard, which while making it fairly light doesn't make it good for note taking on anywhere else but a desk. All in all I think this is perfect if you're looking for a practical case or if you're looking to turn your iPad into a netbook. Even if it doesn't detach easily, it swivels easily so transitioning from a laptop position to a typical iPad position is still effortless. Showing movies or YouTube videos would work wonderfully. I also am having no problems typing quickly after 30 minutes of practice (and this is at 70+ wpm). The more I use this, the more I like it.Pros:- 360 swivel works well for transitioning from typing, browsing, netflixing, etc. (just not to a vertical position).- Types smoothly and has extra and useful command keys.- Protects entire iPad and disguises it as a netbook.- Lightweight and portable.- Locks iPad upon closing.Cons- Not as quiet as other keyboards.- Difficult to detach.- Not a sleek design (if that's what you're looking for).- Cannot type on lap or surface that is not sturdy.- Becomes greasy easily.Edit: a couple of things I would like to add. The home key mentioned is in place of an esc key, so if you're used to pressing esc a lot the home key may prove a hindrance. Also, even though it's a Bluetooth keyboard there is still a bar at the bottom screen of the iPad for auto correct. There is also undo, redo, paste. But if you don't like that there is still an option to hide that bar. I have also found that it is possible to type this on your lap if you angle it differently.
