AWFUL DESIGN - DOES NOT HOLD CAMERA STEADY AT ALL!!
I bought this for my Pedco Ultrapod II tripod after reading the mixed reviews. Some mention that that camera moves but I was encouraged by the reviews that said the problem could be solved by following the instructions properly and tightening the thumb wheel under the locking plate.Sadly this is not the case! - this is poorly designed quick release mount. Basically the entire camera sites on the locking plates and relies largely on friction to hold it there. However, even if you tighten the thumb wheel, I can rotate the camera with a finger just to give you an idea of how bad it is.I have a Canon 600D (T3i) which I use with the Pedco Ultrapod II when I am out hiking (the camera is within the recommended weight for the tripod). I love the tripod itself - its is really well designed, lightweight and i really like the ability to tie it to tree stumps and things to get shots from unique angles. I bought the quick release plate thinking it would be equally well designed but this is pathetic. I cannot believe the manufacturer does not realize how defective this product is and cannot work out why they would continue to sell it. I would stay clear of this product until they come out with a properly designed version unless you have a really light weight phone camera or something where the friction may be sufficient to hold the camera steady.Still love the tripod itself though!

Engineeres by the interns
I am really surprised at the lack of though that went into this. I have spent almost an hour modifying it to actually work as intended. The quality is low and the design is terrible. Would not recommend, you're better off making your own.

Kind of worthless
It's not really much of a quick release. You screw a little button (quick release plate) onto your camera and that button slides into the holder. Because the plate is circular (unlike the usual rectangular plates), your camera swivels around until you tighten the thumbscrew. You have to get that thumbscrew REALLY tight if you don't want your camera to move. Why it's a horrible product:1) The amount of time to get your camera attached to the mount and to get the thumbscrew tightened is probably as much time as you would take just screwing the Ultrapod II to your camera.2) The assembly is made of cheap bendy plastic. Your camera becomes really prone to vibrations (the assembly acts like a spring because of how flexible it is).3) Even if you tighten the thumbscrew, it's still pretty easy for your camera to swivel. It's silly how this would have been a non-issue if the plate was the usual rectangular shape instead of circular.Other reasons not to buy it:1) It's not even black, so it looks kinda ugly on your Ultrapod. It's a light grey that really doesn't go well with the all-black Ultrapod II. Would have uploaded photos if I knew how.2) You would probably be better off buying a normal quick release assembly and attaching it to the Ultrapod. In fact, I've just placed an order forĀ Vktech Black Camera 323 Quick Release Adapter with Manfrotto 200PL-14 Compat Plate . Will see how it goes.In short: don't waste your money on this. It's probably my worst buy on Amazon so far.

Camera adapter works well
But the cell phone adapter doesn't work on my phone (Galaxy S4), mostly because the phone is too heavy to stay in one position well. It would work standing straight up (if everything is still and there's no wind) but can't work in landscape orientation because there's no friction between the adapter and the thing it fits into. It will slide all the way to being upside down portrait.

Good idea, poorly executed
Pedco's UltraPod II Camera Tripod is a study in utility and economy, so I was surprised at how useless the Quick Release Mount is. I bought both items to use with my new Fujifilm X-M1 camera, which I also bought from Amazon. The Fujifilm X-M1 is a fairly light point and shoot camera, however, the Quick Release Mount isn't made to hold anything in a fixed position.Yes, a camera can be mounted and unmounted quickly and easily, but should you wish to hold your camera at a fixed angle, well, this mount can't do that. The bottom line for me is that this item should not be shown with the UltraPod II Tripod as "Frequently Bought Together", as one holds a camera firmly in position and the other simply does not.I would not recommend that anyone buy the Quick Release Mount.
