greatest thing since sliced bread
This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have health issues which render me easily tired. Therefore, it is an ordeal for me to wash and style my hair frequently. I had heard of dry shampoo many years ago and forgot about it until recently when I was browsing the web. I decided to try Batiste because it consistently received the best reviews. I love this product. It's taken very little trial and error for me to determine how best to apply it. I first purchased the Batiste clean & classic original variety. After the first application it was clear to me that I would never spray it indoors again. The aerosol and the odor were overwhelming to me. I aired out my bathroom and asked my husband what my hair smelled like. He said the fragrance, once in the hair, is barely detectable unless one is up close and deliberately trying to smell the hair. To me, the odor of the clean & classic original is reminiscent of a cross between laundry detergent (that generic "clean" scent that we've been programmed to recognize) and baby powder - not things I want to smell like. Mercifully, only my bathroom smelled like that after application rather than my hair. So, since that first time, I apply the product while standing outside on the balcony. This is an enormous improvement. I later ordered the Batiste Tropical which smells like coconut which is more pleasant to my senses. The aerosol application is strong, so you'll need to hold the can about a foot (30cm) from the head to apply. Do not over-apply the product. A little goes a long way. You can always apply more, but if you first apply too much, you will get a build up of white powder which will be difficult to remove without washing your hair with water. I apply the product in about eight sections: bangs, either side of face, and then a few shots at the crown and back. You'll only need to depress the pump for a second to get a good blast of product. Massage the product into the scalp with the fingertips and then brush through. I've found that brushing my hair upside down is the best way to distribute the product and also to allow any excess to fall away. I can brush through my hair with the product as easily as I would without - it doesn't make my hair sticky or tangled. Clean your brush of hair and then rinse after each brushing as you will see a buildup of white powder on the brush. (You don't want to brush your hair with a brush full of old, oil saturated power!) Since I've been using Batiste dry shampoo, I've been washing my hair once per week and my hair looks full and clean throughout the week. I've attached a photo of my hair after five days without washing, only using Batiste dry shampoo. (I have a bit of grey in my hair - not to be mistaken with any product buildup.) This stuff has made my life easier. P.S. I've since tried the cherry scent and I found it to have the least strong odor. It's my new favorite.

Works and smells lovely
For some reason I was hesitant to try dry shampoo. I'm not sure what was wrong with me. I don't know how I lived without it for so long. I very often have bangs and, especially in the summer, by the afternoon they look pretty stringy. I thought I would just have to live with it. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! That's why dry shampoo was made! I really like the way this stuff smells. I was going to get the unscented one, but then I realized that I happen to like things that smell nice. As the name suggests, it smells tropical. Like coconut and all other things wonderfully tropical. I can smell it for a few minutes after I spray it in my hair but then the smell goes away. I've never had an issue with it leaving a white residue in my hair, but I only use it on my bangs since the rest of my hair is dreaded. I did spray it on my boyfriend's hair one time and he did look a little gray for awhile, even after we combed and fluffed it. His hair is a bit darker than mine, and maybe that's why it was more visible on him. Or I used a bit too much. Either way, his hair sure looked clean. At first I didn't think it worked, but then I realized I just needed to use more. Then my bangs looked freshly washed. I was actually able to go two days without washing my hair. *Gasp!* I've never, ever, been able to go that long without washing my hair. I gotta say, it feels great to have hair that still looks and feels clean a day later. Well, I'm sold. This dry shampoo works and it smells good. What more could I want?

My Favorite Dry Shampoo
This is now a staple in my bathroom. This is the first dry shampoo that actually left my hair -feeling- clean as well as looking nice. At worst, dry shampoos have made my hair look or feel gunky (or have a fragrance that could choke an old church lady), and at best they made it -look- clean/presentable but left it feeling like it had texturizer or something in it and made my scalp mildly itchy. I was amazed the first time I tried Batiste's dry shampoo. After I followed the directions and shook out my hair, it felt soft and clean, and I could easily run my fingers through it without feeling like there was "something" in my hair. In fact, it worked so well I was able to squeeze another two days before washing it instead of just the one! It washed out cleanly with no extra shampooing also. I'm very sensitive to fragrance so I gambled on ordering the Tropical, since I'd never seen Batiste locally. It smells like the vague piña colada-ey scent you can often expect from something labeled "tropical." Not unpleasant, but I've since found one I like better. (Ironically, the one I thought would be a definite no for me -- the Cherry -- has turned out to be my favorite. It's not the sickly-sweet fake cherry scent I feared it would be.) The smell on both is mild, though I do catch a whiff of it throughout the day whenever I idly rake a hand through my hair. FYI, if you've also had trouble finding it locally, I eventually came across it at Ulta. If you're sensitive to fragrance, then it's worth trying the many different scents in person; some were too strong for me. Fair warning: it does come out white. I have dark brown hair, approximately the color of dark chocolate, so I nearly had a heart attack. However, I followed the instructions and let it set a few minutes while I continued getting ready, and it all shook/brushed out just fine, no gray tinge. They do make a kind for brunettes if you're particularly skittish about it though.

Best dry shampoo I've ever used!
I am in love with this dry shampoo and addicted to it! I just bought a box of it after trying this bottle out. I loved the tropical scent, it was pleasant but not strong. My husband would compliment how good I smelled after each time I used it. I wish this variety came in a box or 6 or 12 but I couldn't find it so I went with the original scent which is also good, but not as good as this tropical one. Yes it does give your hair a slight tint of white when you first use it, but just rub your hands through your hair and shake it around a bit and it's gone. Anyone who gets too much white is either holding the bottle too close to their hair or is just using too much of it. After I use this I either put some moroccan oil or shine spray in the rest of my hair away from my roots to give it some shine. My hair can go a solid week without washing it, probably more if I wanted to.

Great for Bangs!!
BEST dry shampoo ever!!! I have bangs, and I loove them, but HATE that I have to either wash my hair every day, or not have bangs.... Then, I found Batiste! It is the ONLY dry shampoo that doesn't make me look even more gross like some of the others that I have tried! I also don't like any of them that have aluminum! I don't want a pore clogging ingredient that may cause cancer on my head.... It is bad enough that it is in my deodorant! Batiste smells great, combs/brushes in, and can be used more than one day in a row even though for me the wash one day batise the next is the best or else it builds up- I have only done two days in a row as my hair is fine and humidity from showering third day didn't allow for that experiment to continue, lol. I tried. I have a dirty blond/strawberry blondish hair color and the spray will show only if i spray too much or too close so it is key to lift, separate, distance, and thoroughly work it in with your fingers toward the roots.

Not as good as Aussie's dry shampoo
I had been using Aussie's dry shampoo for about a year when I ran out the other day. As I've become addicted to dry shampoo, this was unacceptable. I ran to my local drug store to pick up some more, but they were out. I didn't have time to keep searching, so I decided to just order some on Amazon. As I was looking at different brands, this one stood out because it was affordable and had great reviews. I went ahead and ordered a bottle, and this is what I found out: Pros: the tropical smell is fantastic!! This Batiste dry shampoo smells so much better than the Aussie brand I was using. It doesn't smell toxic or too scented; it's just a nice pleasant tropical scent. Also, the texture of my hair after using this dry shampoo was as if I hadn't really used any dry shampoo at all. Rather than feeling like it had been hairsprayed, it felt like I had maybe just washed it that morning. It was a much smoother texture than when I used Aussie's brand. Cons: this is not great for dark hair. When I first spray this on, my hair looks like it has turned gray at the roots all of a sudden. This can be easily remedied by working the product through the hair, but I have to make sure to do that all over, because otherwise I end up with some gray spots. The Aussie brand was not as bad about leaving white residue. Second, this product still leaves my hair fairly smooth and not so dry (as mentioned above). While this is a pro if you want your hair to look like it was recently washed and no product was added, but this is a con for me. I like the way that Aussie leaves my hair dryer than normal because I have very oily hair, and I generally have to wash it every night. If that is you, you won't be able to last too long with Batiste dry shampoo (maybe to the end of the afternoon before your hair really shows its oil again). Whereas, with Aussie, I could use dry shampoo the day after washing my hair, and it would still not be too oily the next day. Additionally, Aussie gave my hair volume and texture, so I could do some really cool up-dos that I normally couldn't pull off without doing some serious teasing to my roots. So, if you want your hair to look really smooth and natural, I'd go with Batiste. But, if you want to be able to go longer without washing your hair or you'd like added volume, I'd go with Aussie. I'm ready to be through with this bottle so that I can go back to my regular Aussie dry shampoo, but this would be an acceptable second choice.
