Immaculate precision spool winding and smooth, dependable out-of-the-box printing!
I picked up this spool of SUNLU 1.75mm PLA to run a large batch of prototype assemblies, workshop organizational bins, and functional mechanical models. While exotic engineering filaments have their place, a high-quality standard PLA is the true workhorse of any print room. This spool completely delivers on its marketing promises, providing exceptionally clean layer lines and reliable, trouble-free extrusion right out of the box. Key Performance Observations: Flawless Tangle-Free Precision Winding: The absolute standout feature of this spool is the mechanical layering. The filament is wound incredibly flat and uniform from the inner core all the way to the outer rim without any crossing strands. This meticulous winding entirely removes the risk of overlapping cross-over knots, giving you absolute peace of mind during long, unattended overnight print runs. Outstanding Dimensional Control: Measuring multiple points randomly across the roll with digital calipers, the 1.75mm diameter stayed highly consistent. Best Translucent PLA I have ever used. Sunlu comes through again!
This is without question, the best Translucent PLA filament I have ever used. It came neatly spooled and sealed on a reusable plastic spool - as always with Sunlu. It prints great and the results were beyond my expectations. The finished print produced the clearest translucent filament print I have ever achieved, including other filament types like PETG. I even pushed it 50 mm/s beyond the recommended print speed and couldn't see any difference in the quality and detail. I would comfortably say, it prints 50% clearer than the eSun filament I was using. See the comparison in the photo. Same print settings for both. This filament has me looking for something to print :)

A Representative Clear PLA
As PLA goes it isn't the best, but that's more to do with being a translucent filament rather than being poorly formulated. It prints at normal temperatures, isn't brittle, doesn't clog (which suggests good dimensional accuracy which you would expect from a Sunlu labelled filament. Not inclined to tangle and looks good. Note that transparent PLA is notorious for being prone to hair. You have to fuss with parameters for best results. I've used it for desiccant jars i place in the hub of filament spools as it lets me see the degree of moisture absorption in the filaments. Like all PLA it is NOT very impact resistant, especially if your print is mostly lattice work (gotta have air circulation which means weak walls.)

Clear PLA is also pretty much the best PLA
**Update** I have a recent lightsaber project I'm putting together for my friend and tried out the silver PLA, and once again got pretty impressive results. Didn't need to do anything crazy, standard 200/60 temps and a PEI steel sheet to print on top of. The results came out really clean and I'm really pleased. Based on this I can vouch for the basic color blends as well as the clear.** If you're looking for a clear PLA that can print like glass, this one gives pretty good results. You will have to tweak your printer settings and use 100% infill in order to get there- consult youtube and websites like printables for more info. Some experimentation is probably necessary for this. What I really wanted to talk about is how good this specific blend of PLA is to print compared to most other PLAs I've ever tried. This material is not only strong (bending in the "weak direction" perpendicular to the layers this is only mildly less strong than certain tough PLA+ blends), but most importantly it prints with a consistency that outclasses most other PLAs I've tried. There are two prints specifically that highlight how good this material is for intricate or tough to print structures. A print in place MicroSD box (a popular design on thingiverse and printables), and a replica rollcage. You will notice on these websites that the PIP MicroSD box is extremely hard to print, with many people unable to get the arms to move because they've fused or are dimensionally inaccurate. I had this problem while trying my vast array of Flashforge, Inland, Creality and other filaments, but the one that did work on the first try with zero fuss and no fiddling on my ender 3 V2 was the Sunlu Clear. After printing with default no tweak printer settings, it just worked with the arms freely moving after I popped it off the bed. Similarly, I've had a heck of a time trying to print the rollcage design with other filaments, and even with Cura's revised tree supports they did not come out right. The vertical bars sometimes messed up and either failed completely or looked saggy or goopy. Frustrated after several hours of trying different settings and in particular wasted PLA, I took out the Sunlu Clear and it printed first try, and in fact it probably didn't need any supports at all except for the rear horizontal bars. Basically perfect out of the box. I never had to do anything crazy to print this material, just set the printer to 200 deg F and the bed to 60 deg bog standard settings and just let it go. I have to assume that this is likely because the clear contains less fillers than any colored blend. Regardless, if you are looking to print some complex and tough models, I would recommend giving this a try.

Translucent not transparent - Amazing print quality & strength
I use an Ender 3 with stock hotend, capricorn tube, 0.4mm brass nozzles, and magnetic creality build sheet. Initially I had problems with first layer adhesion that was creating spaghetti compared to my usual black PLA but I finally figured it out... This stuff needs it to be HOT both hot end and bed. Once I bumped up hot end temperature to 230C and the bed to 70C I had no issues with adhesion or under extrusion. Unfortunately this isn't really transparent even when you print 0% infill. I typically print 100% infill for practical parts so I was more interested in the translucent part anyways being able to drill and see the other side before hand. The print quality is pretty insane for this price and I'd swear this is actually PLA+. I would go light on support infill density if you use supports because you'll need more than pliers to break the supports out of this stuff in certain areas. This is practically PETG settings and I wouldn't be surprised if they used some in the mix to strengthen it up. Parts that I typically print in black from other brands are able to flex more and much easier to remove the supports. Pair this with no cooling fan (honestly you get amazing quality without it on this stuff) and you'll have some insanely strong PLA parts depending on your infill, infill pattern, and design. I haven't tested out glass transition temperatures much however at 70C it definitely starts to soften compared with my normal black PLA which softens closer to 50-55C. I will be giving it a torch test to get a practical idea of that. If you want actually transparent parts I'd go Overture transparent PETG but if you want some serious strength and ease of printing try this stuff out especially if you're trying to make lamp shades as they'll probably be indestructible with the cooling fan off. TLDR Recommended Settings: Hot end temp: 230C Bed temp: 70C First layer speed: 20mm/s Speed: 50mm/s Cooling fan: Off Support density: 5%

[Clear Filament] Every Single Print Failed
This review is for the clear filament. MONITOR YOUR PRINTS WITH THIS! I'd recommend peeking every 30-60 minutes until you are sure you didn't get a bad roll. I don't like writing negative reviews, and I saw plenty of other reviews with people praising the clear filament, but literally every single print I tried with it failed. I had a specific model I was trying to print and I tried about a dozen times across 5 or 6 different settings (adjustments made to speed, print temp, and even different support structures, infill pattern, infill %, retraction speed and distance, and even different tension on my extruder feeder) and every single one of them would fail at about 3mm height, which was typically right at or just over an hour of printing. I think I managed to get one print to about 6mm. I even tried printing the "test model" that came with my printer and slicer program twice and the same issue. Grabbed a different roll of PLA and had no problem with the test model. I believe the failure is coming from nozzle clogging, as once it gets to a certain point it's like the filament just stops pushing through and nothing is coming out of the nozzle. At least twice I had some significant issues trying to get the filament out of the system and the extruder clogging and chewing up the filament. Almost every time I was unloading this filament after failure, it was a lot more work to get out than any other filament I've used. I will say the filament came fast, well packaged, looked good and clear, and the little that printed looked good. It had excellent bed adhesion as well. I just now have an almost entire roll of this stuff that's probably just going to go into the trash because I can't get it to do anything other than frustrate me.

Good PLA when PETG not needed
Prints well on my Creality K2. Nice to have a decent transparent PLA for projects instead of relying on PETG. Flat thin prints turn out nicely translucent and scatter LED lighting nicely. My grandson loved the Minecraft Lamp I made for him.

A very good quality 3D printed filament!
When it comes to 3D printing filament, not all are created equal! This brand I have been using for a few years now and it never disappoints! If you want a good quality filament, this brand is to be trusted! Highly Recommended! There is only 2 brands that I trust in buying again and again, this is one of them! ESun is the other brand!

Extremely brittle, breaks all the time in AMS/extruder
Absolutely horrible plastic. Extremely brittle. Breaks ALL THE TIME in my AMS and/or in the extruder. After unloading you can visibly see all the tiny breakage inside the filament. Just did a multimaterial print with around 10 changes, every single material change broke somewhere in the feeder, AMS level, extruder etc. despite cutting after each unload the parts that was already fed in, where you can see the little breaks in. Spent more time fixing the printer than the print itself.
