Q: Can I use this without the original Pee Tray?

It depends on what is under it and where you use it. Urine will go through the material. I'm using it outside without the tray right now to train my dog to use it on my boat swim platform. I am not using the tray as I won't need that on my boat. I can rinse the pad and swim platform with lake water. If you're using this inside then you will need a tray or something solid underneath.

Sorry, I don’t know, because I only bought the mat to go with a different unit. Called “State of the art” doggy potty.

I ordered this pad March 2013, and I'm still using it. This size was bigger than I needed but I was able to cut it in 3 pieces. The one piece I have used is holding up well. It cleans easy and it doesn't stink like other pads.

Q: What is the grass texture? Is the texture of the grass actually feels like grass or does it feel like a rug?

It's not like grass or a rug. It's like fine strands of grass colored plastic all stuck together in a mat. It's flat but a bit spongy.
