Narex6 pc set 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm Mortise Chisels 811204-811212

I bought these to start making deep mortise and tenon joints. The metric set was less expensive than the inch set, so I decided to give it a try. It turns out there is no drawback to using metric even though I am making my measurements in inches. I use the largest size that is within the desired measurement then use my flat chisels to clean up the sides as I gradually widen the mortise to fit the tenon. I end up with snug fits that go together easily. The chisels are easy to sharpen and hold their edge well, even in hard maple. I’m very happy with this set. Now I can make a much deeper mortise than I ever could with flat chisels.

I really like these chisels. They take and hold a nice edge. I flattened the backs and added a micro bevel but they will actually work right out of the box to chop a mortise. They perform better with a little extra work, but if you don't have a sharpening setup yet, they will still do the job. I have some high end, expensive chisels and these when sharp perform just as well in my experience.

These chisels are just what I needed for chopping the tenons in a table I am building. They're heavy-duty with parallel edges and came already well sharpened. Good value for the price. Recommended.

These chisels are amazing. In addition to being a very good looking set with nice wooden handles they perform beautifully. Most of the time I don't even use a hammer, I just push and they do all the work. They're so good that I've been using them for absolutely everything, including things they're not really designed for but they seem to be able to handle the abuse well and do everything I've attempted. This set is probably more sizes then are absolutely necessary, but it is nice to have the options. I love them and am completely sold on Narex products.

I only use these chises to clean out mortises that I cut on my mortising machine. So the fact that each one is slighly smaller than the SAE size is of benefitvto me. If you cut your mortises from scratch, you may get really frustrated.

The bladesl and handles are made of quality materials. Sharp out of the box, better after a cleaning and tune-up. I've only cut one mortise since purchase, but the chisel used performed as expected. These tools seem to have been a good purchase and are a nice addition to my shop.

they were quite sharp but I sharpened more and they cut through poplar just fine. haven't tried them on harder wood. the wood handle is a bit rough but if you really care about that you could send it. the entire set costs as much as 1 top of the line chisel which I'm sure would have a more refined look and touch, but the price difference is hard to justify for normal use.
