Outstanding sound with the right additions..poor user interface
It's a keeper with a few considerations holding it back from being a home run.Pros:Built like a tank (with sharp edges). Thank God they include a case. With the right external components, it offers a superior sound in this price range.Came with 32 gigs of storage not the 16 as advertisedCons:User interface is a learning experienceShuffle play needs to be constructed on a pc and then placed in the file system.display is generic and lacks creativity.Bluetooth did not connect with some devices.Very hard to adjust equalizer.I have owned several MP3 players throughout the years and this one, by far, can be adjusted to sound better than any other retail unit I have owner previously. Including Zune HD, IPod mini, Creative Zen, Sansa Clip, and 2 older Sony models. That being said, just about every other RETAIL user interface was easier to operate and offered a better user friendly experience than this unit. Notice how I said RETAIL? This unit isn't going to be at your Best Buy or big box outlet so It's unrealistic to think there isn't any trade offs or the need to make the best of what you have left to work with.A few other reviews state a $150.00 price tag with their purchase. The $89.99 current pricing makes this a very attractive and forgivable price point to merit some trade offs. The Bluetooth connected with my JBL Clip, Creative A20 soundbar but, failed to recognize my newly acquired Bluetooth capable Creative Outlier headphones. Plugged in however, it was a glorious experience (Mind you, we are working within a modest budget). Plugging into my Polk Audio gaming headphones was dismal and my corded IPone ear buds was at best acceptable. Output on the aforementioned Soundbar and Clip units were both satisfying to the ear and they both have never sounded better while running on another device. The equalizer presets had about 3 useful settings for me and after a lot of trial and error with an unforgiving EQ, I dialed up a very pleasant preset for myself which brought out the best this unit had to offer IMO.At 90 bucks it's a very nice unit. Once you learn the nuances and get it filled up you probably won't need to monkey with it except for using it as intended. I'll leave you with 2 more observations: 1. the usb type C cord requires a push until click insertion. Otherwise your computer won't recognize it. you will feel it click. 2. when turning the unit on, it takes about 8 seconds for the storage to be recognized so you might get a no memory error. That's all- If you want to spend more, feel free but, judging by reviews and questions on Amazon all these units have quirks and learning curves so it is what it is.

IT WORKS!!!
Dang.... Why am I shaking? Oh, maybe because I'm listening to MY OWN WAV files!!!Let me explain. $150 is not necessarily cheap, but but it is no where expensive for what you get, and it plain works. I have a large library and I will eventually get something like a Astell & Kern KANN in a future life, but i needed something as my old mini ipod player fried in the sun years ago. I am an android guy and itunes does not play nicely. Though most of my files are from my own original CDs, i needed a portable. i actually went through 2 'cheap' players - each one stating 128GB compatibility but not able to read most of the wav files i have on a 128GB micoSD card ... literally, you get what you paid for. So, no more cheap but $800 is not now.Browsing here I saw only one review posted here on the iRULU F22 and just decided why not. ... $150? Well, if it works, I want my music.I just received it.Opened the elaborate box (it comes with a USB-C charging cable and instruction manual which i read after i completed the following to make sure i didn't miss something - i did not ... straight forward functions - swipe for menus and other settings, etc. intuitive)I took off the protective covers and the ultra shiny front and back instantly started collecting my fingerprints .. i do no care.I looked at the bottom and there was already a microSD card in there, i de-pressed it and saw that it was a 32 GB microSD.I took my preloaded 128GB microSD card in there. Turned it on, Plugged in my head set. swipped around a little. went to the folders. ALL folders and songs showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!Also, the battery was nearly fully charged.I just started playing and connected an external bluetooth speaker, etc...Then i read the manual.Sound quality? About as good as anything out there without spending $$$.Physical build? What did they do? Put lead in this thing? It is heavy-ish for the size - must be for battery and some extra components, but since it works, I'm happy.Hmmmmmm ... Sharper than normal top four edges for aluminum ... yeah. That's the only thing i would deduct a half a star on ... but since there is no 9.5/5 rating system available, i gladly give this 5 stars. So, This throw up of a review is after only having this for 30 minutes. If something happens down the road, i'll update. I am really excited about this thing.Flash back to the early 80s and getting my first portable cassette player. Heavy as a brick, but played everything. Here I am playing my Jarre stuff again. ...Oh, I am old ... -.-

Much to like, except...
I like pretty much everything about this player. The sound is excellent, the touch screen user interface is well-designed, the instruction manual (though pretty terse) is comprehensive, the unit is well-constructed, it comes with a screen protector already applied, and a case comes with it (more on that in a minute). For the money, I think it's a good buy.Now for my wish list. 1) I wish it supported a micro-sd card capacity greater than 128GB. I also have a Surfans/iRulu H10 that supports 256GB, so I'm not sure why that capability wasn't built into this model as well. 2) I wish it were lighter and more rounded. The unit is heavy for its size (which may be a plus in terms of durability) and has a lot of sharp corners. 3) I wish aftermarket cases were available. I know a case is supposed to fit snugly, but the one that came with my F22 is difficult to get on, doesn't fit particularly well, and is almost impossible to get off. It could loosen up some with time if I use it, but I probably won't.And now the "except" -- it wasn't until I got the unit that I found out it doesn't work with Windows 7. There are no drivers available for Windows 7 and, as others have reported, Surfans' tech support is practically non-existent. All of my audio files are on my Windows 7 machine, so to get them onto the player I first have to transfer them to my Win 10 laptop, which is a pain. For that reason, if it were possible I'd give a 9.5-star review.I'll keep it -- it's a nice little player with some excellent features -- but I'll also continue to look for perfection.

Quite good/wait for discount
Package: Device arrived very well packed, in a classical, white paper box. In the box there was device itself, manual, warranty paperwork, little 16GB micro SD card and a little bonus the covering case made out of thick plastic, which protects the device from physical damage.Device: It is very well made, the frame is made out of metal. Front and back are made out of glass. It is most likely not any gorilla glass, so there is not any scratch resistance. But there are some protecting plastic foil from production. There are power button on the top, which turns display on or off. There are volume up, play/pause, volume down buttons on the left side. There is nothing, except for some aesthetic bump on the right side. On the bottom there are 3,5mm headphone jack, USB-C connector, and micro SD memory card slot. Screen is ok, with some decent quality resolution.Software is custom made. It takes some time to get used to it. It has some multimedia functions like .pdf and e-pub reader, voice recorder, voice search function, equlizer. This device has a bluetooth and wifi connectivity but I have never tried it.Audio: (Comparison with Xduoo X3 ver1, headphones AudioTechnica ath MSR7) Output is quite decent with some decent highs, mids and bass. Details are not as sharp, sound stage is not as wide, there is noticeable white noise. High frequency sound can be a little tiring after some time. Middle frequency sound is a little better. Bass is ok too, nothing special. Over all it is decent device, maybe better than most smartphones but not better than (at least version1) Xduoo x3. But it is somehow funnier to listen sometimes.Technical details: There is no dedicated Digital/Analog converting circuit. Instead it uses Rockchip RK3308G and its DA capabilities. In theory it can convert audio from digital at 24bit and 192kHz frequency (according to Rockchip RK3308G tech specs). SoC itself is made for voice recognition and reproduction. There is but really strong AMPlifier circuit MAX97220. There is no need to set it more than first 1/3 of volume. If you want you can turn your headphones into small loudspeakers. Conclusion: Over all it is really fun device with decent audio but not for hard core audio lover. Two stars down for high price compared to better sounding devices.
