Now Ruby is easier.
I am awaiting for class to reopen due to Covid. This book has made it easier to learn Ruby. I originally purchased the Kindle form of this book and it got to the point of trying to do the exercises got to be a little bit tough. Now that I have purchased the actual book I am more at ease. The book is secured and it may hold up to my highlighting, note taking, and paper notes without falling apart. During Covid I will be able to update my skills and have my grandchildren to learn a new skill.

Well put together
Insightful and easy to follow. I fear like it needs more content along with end of chapter exercises. Otherwise it's a great way to get started.

Decent intro to Ruby
Gets to the point. It is straightforward, which is appreciated, but not overly detailed. I'm reviewing other books and recommend Mike Hartl's books as an excellent supplement to this.

Better for beginners
This book was fine but I was hoping for a little more depth. If you are a complete beginner, I think you will like this book but if you have experience with other interpreted languages (Perl, Python, etc) this book is pretty basic.

Great introduction to ruby
Its a great introduction to the language as an experienced programmer I'm still really enjoying it. Its small enough to bring around and is a great addition to the odin project ruby course, and the exercism ruby track.

Wow!
What a fantastic little book this is, and what an introduction to Ruby. I hadn't done any programming since the 80's using MS Basic, and never heard of Ruby until I read an article on it while researching Python. This little book has rekindled my enthusiasm for programming; Its bursting with content and written in an easy to understand way.. Just for me.

Nice Little Ruby Taster
I already have a good knowledge of general programming concepts. What I wanted form this was a quick run through of the Ruby syntax and any pitfalls worth noting. This book helped me with that very nicely.I bought a physical copy. It was printed and bound in the UK by Amazon. The paper and pages are nice. The binding is good and it doesn't feel like it will fall apart like some self-published print-on-demand books do. No complaints. The content of the book covers installing, writing and executing Ruby scripts on Linux and Window. It has a corresponding section for each system in each chapter. Code is presented as pseudocode with an explanation, followed by a fully functional example written in Ruby script. What this book does not do is tell you any best practices, why following best practices is a good idea, how using a version manager will make your life easier, why using a local install for development is safer and more practical than using the system wide installation, how to install and manage ruby-gems, why installing gems as a superuser is a big no-no, or anything about the standard Ruby library. In conclusion, I feel this book was supposed to be a brief taster. In that regard I'd give it five stars. I've deducted 1 star because it doesn't point the reader in a useful direction should they wish to continue with the subject.
