Great stones.
Good stones- made of corundum - so they will sharpen the harder steel knives (HRC 60 and higher). No need to purchase a flattening stone as any rough flat diamond stone can be used to re-flatten the stone.

2 not attached 1 cracked (received that way)
Other wise nice stones. Worried about the smoother (more brittle) stones breaking because they were not properly secured. Stones that I have used appear good quality.

Lame q/c
Received today. On opening, there were two 1500 grit stones and zero 400 grit stones. Also, half of the stones were completely separated from their bases. Will have to super glue them before using. Not that big of a deal but pretty annoying.

Example of use plus grit information.
These are designed to be used in a fixed angle sharpening system. I see some reviews mentioning how small they are. Yea, that’s the point.Mine arrived in good condition and yes, they are unmarked. However, the seller clearly displays the color to grit in the description and the guides found in the reviews are just wrong.... way wrong. From the seller, color description from me: Chromium Corundum Whetstone, Coarse, 240 Grits (Green/Gray)· Chromium Corundum Whetstone, Coarse, 400 Grits (Red)· Silicon carbide Whetstone, Medium, 800 Grits (Dark Grey)· Silicon carbide Whetstone, Medium, 1500 Grits (Black)· Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) Whetstone, Fine, 3000 Grits (Pink)· Natural White Whetstone, Fine, About 6000 Grits (White shiny)· Natural Green Whetstone, Superfine, About 8000 Grits (Green Marble)· Natural White Agate Whetstone, Superfine, About 10000 Grits (White, darker)I have the stones in hand and this matches well with what mine feel like.

Piss poor tiny stones, poor quality
One stone was broken on arrival. 3 other of these tiny stones were poorly glued to a plastic backing, to appear thicker, and had fallen off as I was inspecting them. 2 others fell off when soaked in water.NEVER, NEVER BUY FROM THIS VENDOR OR BE SORRY

They fit in the sharpener sold here too
Likes: they fit in the sharpener I ordered here. They are much finer than the ones that come with the sharpener.Dislikes: still no labeling. They send you a color chart that says what each color grit is.Pro tip: these are whet stones. They tell you to soak them in water for 5 minutes before using them. I had more success with using a fine honing oil than only water. Both work just oil worked better.

Honestly, well and truly pleased with them
Between collecting knives and just generally finding therapeutic relief through sharpening... Stuff in general, I really, really like these stones. A little leveling does them plenty of good, though I had no issues with stones coming apart from the plastic base. Plenty of reviews mention the bad cuts on the stones, and they sure as heck aren't kidding. Stones vary in thickness and you yourself will have to judge the grits. I usually just have to spend a quick 10-20 minutes to get back to scary, shave-worthy, 'show someone how to open this knife before you hand it to them' sharp, even with the stupid-hardness of 9Cr and D2.I don't use the 2 rougher grits often since I have bigger stones in the same grit at home and the one in my travel kit is smaller, but from what I can tell, this is the order of the higher grits:Rough-ish White: 800gSmooth-ish Black: 1500gSmooth-ish White: 3000gSmooth Pink: 6000gSmooth Black: 8000gGreen: 10000gThat being said, the first two listed are nearly interchangeable, but this is my recommendation.

Nice range of stones suited to knife sharpening by hand.
Directly this arrived, I set to work sharpening some small knives. The stones work well, but I found some of the coarser grit stones were quite soft, and showed significant wearing after my exploration of their efficacy. Notwithstanding this, the product has great utility in hand sharpening of small blades. I’m now seeking some small coarse stones that might last a little longer, but would be interested in the availability of replacement stones.Mike Fibbens
