The Darkroom Cookbook (Alternative Process Photography) 3rd Edition

From the outset, this book is not for faint-hearted digital camera users amongst us. It is a book crammed full of easy-to-follow & understand recipes and tips for REAL photography, but beware, you may actually want to get your hands dirty if you read it! Ah the smell of the darkroom, no photoshop here, thank you! I bought the "cookbook" because I feel that old-fashioned photo art is quickly vanishing , good riddance I hear you say? Well, You don't know what you are missing until is is no longer here. Very well written, in a well organised conversational style that truely makes you believe that the author is chatting to you personally, one on one. I'd like to add more, but I want to return to the book, so ...........

a must have for the darkroom. yeah i know the darkroom days are numbered, but you'll never achieve a black and white print half as good as one developed on photographic paper Period. been doing black and white in a darkroom since the 70's and i have seen good digital work, but it pales in comparison to good old analog prints. Steve's book is well thought out and a great starting point for the darkroom photographer. you may have to tweak the formulas to your liking because that's what makes them your photos

It's hard to believe this book gets even better in this, it's Third Edition. Author/Editor/Compiler Anchell, himself an outstanding photographer and gifted teacher, gives the reader a no-nonsense, hands-on approach to every necessary aspect of the craft of darkroom photography. Whether noobie or aging "darkroom rat" (like this reviewer) this trove of information about photo chemistry, developing and printing techniques, and darkroom lore should be an essential in every non-digital photographer's book shelf.John J. this is the best book i've seen, if you're trying to learn how to set up and run a darkroom, without the benefit of any instruction.still in all, you're better off signing up for some sort of classes or training before you really plunge into this; I see this book more as a supplement to this type of training than anything else.

Didn't know this book was all about chemical (photo) weapons . But still I like it .Maybe in a later stadium of my darkroomexperience I'm glad to have bought it !

If you like the film photography, and have worries about the availably of processing chemicals this book eases concerns as it gives you the means to make your own chemicals. Easy to follow steps and the good thing is on the ones I’ve tried they work.

For those of us still using film and doing our own developing and printing this book is a must. This book has been around for years and is a must have reference work for anyone that is working in analog (film photography)

This book is a must have for anyone involved in the processing of black and white film photography. I wish it was out there fifty years ago. Never too late.

Ottimo libro tra i migliori nel suo genere, scritto in modo chiaro con moltissime formule per la preparazione dei reattivi fotografici.

Muy buen libro con recetas de reveladores para película de todo tipo muy bien explicadas, lastima que no este en castellano.

Hilfreich, vor allem wenn man meher als nur das noch erhältliche in dieser Sparte erhalten will. Wenn die Chemikalien in Europa auch noch erhältlich bleiben, dann kann den Analogfotografen nichts passieren.
