If you are buying this to power a VR headset, need to know!
I recently purchased a quest 2 vr headset, and as many users have become aware, power supply to the headset is an issue. If you plan on using your headset for more than a couple of hours, you need either a battery pack, or you have to connect it to a computer that has a usb 3.0 or usb-c port that does both data and power. But, as some users may have also found out, not many pc's purchased in the last few years have powered usb ports that provide more than 500mah of power, which is not sufficient enough to run the headset for long periods of time.It will extend your play time by a couple of hours, but not enough to keep the headset running indefinitely. You need at least 2-2.5A of power to the cable in order to run the headset longer. Many users have gone out looking for powered usb hubs instead, but the problem with many of the usb hubs is that even if they say they provide smart charging ports, the only things those ports do is charge, they do not provide data for pc links and the ones that do provide data do not provide 2A of power per port, you are back to the 500mah.And the hubs that do provide this function of both data and power are typically sold out. So what is the solution? The solution is to buy an expansion card for your computer that does both data and power, right? That is what this card claims to do. Up to 10Gbps of data and 3A of power. And the questions answered on the web page claim it does not need a power supply connection to run, you can just plug it in to your motherboard. However, after testing with the quest 2, I can confirm that this is not the case.Yes, the card itself can run data and offer a usb-c connection to your pc without needing additional power, this is true. So you can use the card without a power connector. However, if you want the 3A of power it says it provides to the ports, you MUST connect it to your power supply! When I connected my headset to the usb-c port without a power supply connection, it says it was charging, but it never increased it's charge percentage even after 2 hours of staying connected, it even drained an extra percent! The regular 3.0 usb connectors on my motherboard at least provide some power and will charge the headset even if it takes a long time when the headset is turned off.But if you want to charge the headset AND have data, you need to connect the card to your power supply, so make sure you have an extra connector available if you want to use it for this purpose!

You may need to buy an extension cable for the power, Avast reported virus on installation CD, here's the workarounds
Here's a quick review to explain my experiences installing this card in February 2017:I was expecting a quick, 5-minute install but it had been awhile since I got inside my machine. None of the power connectors were long enough to reach the card. This card is only a few inches long (it's shorter than it looks in the photo), it's not like a video card that will be closer to the back of your motherboard. The small size is actually a good thing for being in cramped spaces, but you might want to see if your power cables are long enough before ordering, and if not, buy an extension for a few dollars if you don't already have one. I was able to work around this issue by rearranging my internal drives so one was mounted closer to this card (and therefore, so was it's cable's extra molex connector), so the 5-minute install took longer than I thought. The next problem was that Avast (virus software) reported a virus in one of the files on the installation CD and wouldn't run the installation program. It could have been a false positive, but it had never happened to me before with any hardware installation CD over the last several decades, so I was reluctant to turn off my virus software to install a $16 card. The workaround was to find and download the drivers on the internet. Avast had no problem with the downloaded drivers. The drivers on the internet looked like they were for a different brand card (it might have been identifying the chipset) so I wasn't 100% sure of them either, and after installing the drivers the card didn't work. But after rebooting everything has been fine. The card has been working fine and for $16 delivered the value can't be beat. I bought this to speed up an external hard drive that was getting it's speed throttled by the USB 2.0 connector on my computer. After upgrading to this USB 3.0 card the external hard drive's speed more than doubled. In fact, it runs much faster than my internal hard drive.Since vendors sometimes modify the products in these sales pages, to be clear this review was for the following:Rosewill PCI-E to USB 3.0 4-Port PCI Express Expansion Card (PCIe Card), 4 USB 3.0 Ports, Super Speed Up to 5Gbps, with 4 pin Male Molex Power Connector & Renesas Chipset

I had a Windows XP Pro computer and FireWire card that worked fine together, but that was back in 2004 and ...
After reading some of the reviews here, I decided to purchase the Rosewill RC-504 PCIE FireWire 1394a Card a few weeks ago. On another forum, I noticed that one user had tried several different cards and the only one that worked was a Rosewill, albeit a different model than this one. So I figured that I had low risk by trying this one. Even though I purchased it a few weeks ago through Amazon, but just installed it tonight. Now that FireWire technology has been around for about 20 years in the public eye, I was a little concerned that my new desktop computer would be able to handle it, especially using the Windows 10 64-bit operating system. I had a Windows XP Pro computer and FireWire card that worked fine together, but that was back in 2004 and the XP Pro computer is on its last legs now.So, I installed the card tonight, then checked to see if the drivers were installed and working. I decided to test it out with some home movies that were filmed years ago on an old digital camcorder. Thankfully, I can assure you that the DV video I was working with transferred to the computer perfectly with no dropped frames. I'm sure that having Adobe Premiere Pro CC, 24 GB of RAM and a decent NVIDIA GTX graphics card helped, but I had no need to seek out legacy video drivers for the FireWire card like some others had to do. The VIA 1394 drivers worked just fine.If I run into any problems, I will update my review, but for now, consider me sold on this card!

Audio dropouts when connected to USB DAC
Installed, including power connector from mothrboard. Audio distorted with constant dropouts when unit is used to send signal to external DAC. When I unplugged USB cable from the Rosewill card and used a free USB port on my original motherboard, the problems went away. This will be getting pulled from the PC and thrown in the garbage.

Real easy to use
It was plug n play on my motherboard. Nothing to complain other than should have read better: I needed 4 dedicated controllers on my card. This one has 1. Doesn't make it bad, just not suitable for my specific need. Still have 4 extra USB connections yay!
