An affordable, feature-rich compact camera
This camera has become my daily workhorse and I love it! I've been shooting for more than 30 years and have used a lot of cameras from full-sized broadcast and digital film cameras to compact prosumer cameras. JVC hit it out of the park with the one-inch sensor and the ability to shoot in 4k--that provides me with flexibility in editing and in producing rich content that might normally be reserved for higher-end digital film cameras. The ability to record straight to SDHC cards means I don't have to purchase proprietary recording mediums; when you shoot and share a lot of content, a common medium saves time, hassle, and money. I stream a lot of content, so having connectivity built-in to the camera is a bonus. Broadcast professionals will appreciate the XLR audio inputs and the HD-SDI output. There is a lot to admire about this camcorder; it was a nice upgrade from my last JVC handheld camcorder, which I still use as a back-up.

could have been a great camera
over all it’s a good camera but most of the 4k recording features require the use of the ssd caddy that JVC sells. The caddy costs $475 and doesn't even include an ssd. JVC could have easily moved the type c usb port to the outside of the camera but instead they decided to go this route to force you to buy there insanely overprice caddy.
