La Crosse Technology 724-1409 Wireless Digital Rain Gauge with in Temperature

I had a La Crosse rain gauge that worked fine from 2018 till 2023. When that one stopped working, I bought this unit—very similar looking to my first unit. The base station stopped working after about 3 months. After some back and forth with Customer Service, they sent me a new unit, same model. This one worked OK for maybe a month. Then stopped. The rain collector is not clogged with leaves and the collection buckets move properly. So I guess the problem is that the collector isn’t sending signal or the base station isn’t receiving one. Either way, this unit is worthless. I’m giving up on La Crosse. Quality control is not good. On their website, it looks like La Crosse is out of the stand alone rain gauge business. Now they are pushing high cost weather stations for your roof. But they still use the same method for measuring rain. I’d stay away from those for sure.

Performs very well. Battery life in outdoor unit only lasts a couple of months; would be nice if they lasted longer. Would recommend.

I have had 2 of these. They seem to last just about 3 years. When they work, they work well. My second one just gave up the ghost, so I ordered a different brand this time.

WORKS GREAT VERY ACCURATE BUT THE INDOOR TEMP DISPLAY IS VERY SMALL AND HARD TO READ FROM A DISTANCE.

This wireless digital rain gauge has NEVER worked as it should. If I'm lucky, it will record 50% of actual rainfall. I have two other "old school" rain gauges and they are both consistent with each other on rainfall. The owner's manual for this wireless unit states that it can be calibrated by adjusting two screws under the tilting rocker. It even shows a picture of the two screws and how much to turn them. The problem is, on this unit, THERE ARE NO SCREWS UNDER THE TILTING ROCKER!!!I called their toll-free support number and had to leave a message for them to call me back. Four days later, they got around to returning my call when I was not near the phone and they left me a voicemail telling me to call them back (presumably to leave them another message that they would respond to four days later).I simply cannot recommend this product or the team that supports it to anyone.
