Great! Except for the plug
Hey I'd like to state that this review is not about the great sound of these headphones, there are more experienced audiophiles who can give you a more detailed impression than I can, but I will say that I'm impressed. The reason I'm writing this review is that I find it very strange how small the threads are that screw into the headphone itself. The adapters are gold plated, and I have to assume that the threads are also. It does not make sense to me that I am supposed to be constantly screwing and unscrewing these threads because the first model I received was used (The phones were upside down in the box) and the screw was already cross-threaded. I was consistently able to take off, I guess, GOLD by running it down my finger. Due to a defect with the sound, I was able to return them after 30 days and 3hrs and got a new pair. I found the screw to be much different and was happy knowing I could take care of these phones, getting a forewarning about the problem. This was not true, after a few days of screwing it backwards until it clicked and matching the threads correctly, one time of not doing this led to it cross-threading. This is ridiculous to me, as I planned on using these headphones for years, and am already etching away at the very foundation that holds them together. I haven't seen any review mentioning this, but this is my second pair that are already, to me, messed up.I have no idea how long the product will last, as I am considering returning it or taking some action, but I should add that I have rebuilt the front suspension of my corvette, so I should have some idea how to thread properly. I have a tap and die set with which I can fix this problem, but again the main problem seems that the threading is too small, and re-threading such a small amount of metal is not ideal.Again this review is merely to point out, in detail, a problem I have experienced with two headphones and I have not seen this review mentioned here on Amazon or elsewhere. It was important enough to bring to your attention, and I will add that if you never plan on switching the cords, this will not be a problem for you. I switch cords when I go to school and when I come home, so it's frustrating to have this happen twice. If you notice my 4-star review, it is up there because these are great quality headphones with respect to comfort and sound. These headphones may even be your perfect fit.

Great sounding headphones, but that stupid straight cord...
I am no audiophile, but I do take pride in having equipment that doesn't sound like trash. I believe these headphones deserve about a 4-5 star rating, but I can't give them a 4 or 5 star rating due to what I've been told by Ultrasone. Don't get me wrong, as far as I am concerned Amazon did a great job on their end and I would give them a 5 star on their packaging and shipping time, but my beef is with Ultrasone, a company that charges a sizable sum for a good product, but I'm not impressed with their service. On the user uploaded pics there is a picture that has a remote volume control that used to be included with the DJ1-Pros. The US customer service rep told me that the remote volume control is no longer included with the headphones. Ok, I can accept that. The description also says there are 2 cushions, 1 coiled cord and 1 straight cord (no lengths mentioned on Amazon). In my box I had 2 cushions, 1 coiled cord and 1 straight cord. Most people would think this is fine and dandy until you unpackage the cords. The length on the coiled cord is the standard headphone cord length, the straight cord, however is only about 2 1/2 feet long. What exactly can you use a 2 1/2 foot cord for?I emailed Ultrasone saying I could only see that as a patch cord for the no longer included volume control unit and asked if that was what was considered as the straight cord, and their reply was yes, and if I needed additional cords I could go to the web address they gave me and purchase more.Again, I ask, what can you use a 2 1/2 foot cord for? An iPod strapped to your bicep for jogging? Sure, but who's going to take a $160 pair of headphones jogging? I can't see a DJ (the targeted audience for these headphones- mine are going to be used for live sound mixing) using the cord as a backup either as there would be no freedom of movement and pretty much all gear you would use these headphones on has a 1/4" jack (the short cord has a 1/8" jack on the input end). As you can see, most of my gripe is with the advertised "back up cord", if you will. This short of a cord is almost useless. Using it on my phone keeps my phone a little closer to my face than I would prefer if using it for something like watching videos on YouTube. In my honest opinion it should have been left out of the description, or at least described completely instead of leaving the purchaser to assume it is a full length cable like the coiled cable is.As far as the headphones themselves, they do sound really nice and I am happy with them. I have not experienced any of the high frequency issues I read about another purchaser having. They sound really nice and crisp and remain clear even when the bass is enough to feel on your ears. They are also very comfortable for the size; they are rather big and a bit bigger than I expected them to be, but I am completely ok with the size due to the sound and I spend my mixing time inside a sound booth, lol. I have not had any issues with the coiled cord cross-threading as I've read others have had, and barring the short cord I am happy with my purchase. Had Ultrasone left out the almost useless straight cord and included just the standard length coiled cord I would have given these headphones a 5 star rating based on build quality, comfort, ease of use and quality of sound despite now thinking I should have saved $20 and gone with the DJ1 over the DJ1-Pro.Update:I have been using these headphones regularly now for a while. They still sound really really good (better than the JBL Pro main speakers we use, lol) and so far with breaking them down and removing the plug to put them back in the case they have held up great! They still look brand new, they still sound just as awesome as the day I pulled them out of the box, and best of all (and the one I was most worried about) the cord port has not cross threaded on me despite hundreds of insert/remove cycles. That said, and after getting over my irritation of the short cord I have updated my review to reflect a 5 star rating vs my original 3 star. Like mentioned, I have had no cross thread issues with the cord, and heck, I still haven't even worn out the original cushions. These things still sound great and do a great job of isolating the user from the outside noise despite not having any sort of active noise isolation feature.Simply put, if I ever need another pair of headphones, I won't hesitate to purchase another set of Ultrasones.

Wonderful rich sound
Bought these as a gift and the recipient LOVES them and this was his second pair of Ultrasone DJ1 Pros.He has had them now for years and they are still going strong. The sound is still great. The only problem is that after all these years and much use, the material that the ear covers are made from has started to deteriorate.
