Best bagel slicer ever
I cut my finger badly slicing a bagel, so I decided to buy this bagel slicer. I'm so glad I did! This must be the best bagel slicer in the world. It has a guard so it is impossible to injure yourself. More importantly, the Teflon-coated blade slides through bagels like butter, giving a clean, perfect slice every time. And it's large enough to hold the thicker bagels that one often finds. You will not be disappointed with this item.

If you need something like this, buy this one.
This is a simple product, executed flawlessly. You put your bagel in (even a Costco behemoth bagel) and press down. Like Madame Lafarge, you then watch your bagel separating into halves. You lift up, take your bagel out, and rinse off the cutter. Voila! You have made twoness out of oneness, easily and quickly, in preparation for butter, cream cheese, jam, sandwich meat, or whatever. If you need something like this, this is what you need.

How can a commercial Bagel cutter not cut bagels?
I purchased this Commercial Bagel cutter as a gift for my brother (who just opened a bagel shop )and wanted to surprise him. I gave him the gift the end of September before I went away on vacation. When I returned, my brother didn't want to hurt my feelings by telling me the cutter did not work on his bagels. Most of these bagels are large and soft so they must be squished into the slicer which grossly deforms the appearance of the bagel. By the time he told me that the bagel cutter didn't work for him, it had exceeded the 30 day return policy. Now he's stuck with a $55.00 bagel cutter he cannot use. I am quite displeased that this is advertised as a commercial slicer and he still has to slice all the bagels with a knife. I am really dis satisfied and feel the company should have allowed the slicer to be returned since it was used once and found to be ineffective!

What's not to like about that
If the bagels don't quite fit, give them a little squeeze and they'll do ok. I wish it were just a tiny bit bigger, and that I didn't end up with sesame seeds everywhere. But overall, it's a handy thing that saves me trips to the ER. What's not to like about that? If only I could get a discount on workers' comp for it. :-)

Truthfulness in advertising
1. *Not* made in the US (clearly marked "Made in China" both on the box and on the base of the product.)2. Item is riveted, not secured with screws as indicated in the picture.Haven't tried it out yet because I an weighing just returning the thing out of principal. Probably cuts bagels just fine, but when you can't even trust the picture they have up here, who knows...

It works!!
I'm a life long clutz and should not be allowed around sharp objects. However, barring a court order for their removal, I continued to use knives to cut my bagels with many, but minor resulting lacerations. Then one day, I nearly severed the tip of my finger with a bread knife while cutting a bagel for my breakfast. The pain, blood loss and resulting permanent nerve damage prompted me to research and purchase this bagel slicer. It didn't arrive fast enough and I had a slight carb withdrawl, since the fear of the bread knife (it's evil red eyes glaring at me from the knife block, it's serrated edge drooling for more blood) kept me from having my morning bagel with cream cheese. But when it finally came, I breathed a sigh of relief.I've never used a bagel slicer before, so I have nothing to compare this to, but it does slice thick NY style bagels very easily without any threat to human flesh since your hands are nowhere near the blade. My injured finger thanks you.The bread knife was humanely put down. Once they attack like that, you can't trust that it won't happen again.

Hubert Co gave great customer service
The bagel slicer started squashing the bagels after slicing about three dozen. I emailed the Hubert Co for a new blade, but they no longer cary this slicer. They refunded my money being that they could not solve my problem

Love It
Bagels from a brick and mortar store, uncut are a pain to deal with. This little jewel solves the problem. Blade is sharp, holds the bagel tightly and the cutting action is great. Only one very minor problem. If you grab the handle of the cutter blade, and try to move the whole unit somewhere, the cutter will separate from the base. You have to grab the base to move the unit.
