Excellent all around
Exactly as described. Lovely appearance, tough as hell, comes SHARP as hell, and I have already had a small skinning job, where this was "pressed" into service. Did Not Disappoint. Warning!!! Do not try shaving with this knife if you want to have a face left...lol. This just "graduated" to being my EDC overnight. PS...I also have their 4.5" FatCat...equally compelling in overall quality....also, excellent Sharpness & functionality, however, a bit more bulky as well, thus, for me and me alone, and I'm a Big guy, Not my EDC. However, I still would use this Outdoors, no question, it would be on my belt in the sheath carry case.

WARNING - SCAM ALERT
WARNING - I ordered this item and received a cheap (~$80) Wusthof Ikon folding 'gentleman's knife' ([...]) instead of the SOG Arcitech model ordered - but in SOG packaging and without a packing list! A replacement has been sent, but the jury's out until I get what I ordered. BEWARE!

Pretty, but not a nice knife.
Not a great knife for the price. The blade is beautiful, I wish they would have followed through on the rest of the knife. The epoxy on the CF scales is very inconsistent, very shiny spots and worn down spots, and gaps in the sides. Comes in a SOG cardboard box, would have thought it would at least come inside of Felt or bubble wrap. My knife had gaps around the liners, a very large one on the top; just makes the knife look terrible. The blade was not centered, and they ground off the screws under the liner so you cant adjust it at all. Given the poor build quality, i am having a hard time believing this wasn't made in China.I have had nicer Taiwan made SOG knives, not sure what is going on where this one is made.As another reviewer commented, the frame is very sharp. I would think they would at least sand the edges down, the one i got had a little splinter of metal hanging off it, that would have been bad had I not noticed it. I cannot recommend this purchase to anyone. I tried a replacement, but got the wrong item, I won't be trying again. There are many knives from Benchmade and ZT that are half the price, and have a much higher build quality. Back it went, gotta love Amazon when there are issues with an order. Maybe I got one from a bad batch or something, who knows.

A $300+ SOG Knife?
So I should start with what my expectations were of a $300 dollar knife. I have 16 knives within this price range Kershaw, ZT, Benchmade. . . and really in this prices range you expect excellent form, function, and materials. Materials and functions get five stars. A great looking Damascus blade razor sharp out of the box. The carbon fiber scales are light and though the texturing isn't my favorite it still is very nice. Exactly why I even entertained buying this knife. there is no play in the blade and i can flick it open and closed to my hearts content. It's exactly what I look for in a knife. Now form is really where it falls short. When I speak about form I'm talking about quality engineering. I expect the machining and aesthetics to be immaculate. If I buy a 20 dollar knife I don't expect much, but 100+ you shouldn't see any flaws or blemishes. Four things I noticed 1. The screw holes on the carbon scales have rough edges which catch on the fingers and pocket. A minor issue for me but still there. There was also nicks in the carbon fiber from the drilling during manufacturing. 2. The carbon fiber scales do not smoothly transition from the handle to the metal bolster. Again minor and aesthetic but may be a draw back for some. I would rather be able to run my fingers smoothly over the handle. 3. The notches on the tang were thinner on one side then the other. Yet again another aesthetic problem. 4. The bolsters and liners of the knife where not machined perfectly. For $300 dollars I expect nano-meter engineering. So to clearly have one of the bolsters not line up with the liners perfectly bothers the crap out of me. Especially since the other one is seamless. This problem was really the deal breaker for me. I have some cheap SOG knifes you can pick up from any smiths or wal mart. Those were good quality for what they are. . a cheap knife. I was really disappointed to pick up their most expensive knife and see such spotty engineering. Those issues were enough for me to knock two stars off what could have been a five star review.

Beautiful Knife, A Little Sloppy
I received this knife with a $50 off SOG promotion upon checkout to my delightful surprise.Pros: Blade centering is spot on when closed. No blade play when the knife is open. Arc lock is pretty secure and tight. Easy to open with an attractive thumb stud for one hand opening. The damascus steel with the VG-10 core is beautiful and razor sharp. The knife feels very solid, comfortable and durable.Cons: The carbon fiber inlay where it meets the titanium handle is a little bit uneven where the titanium handle overlaps the carbon, but it's only very slightly on the side where the blade clip is present. Cosmetically, it's not even noticeable unless you run your finger over that small area and have a discerning eye. It's no big deal and definitely not a deal breaker. There was no carrying pouch or manual in the box. But those are the only cons that I can find, but as I said, it's nothing to really get worked up about. But I had to take off a star because of it.Overall, I'm satisfied with my knife and considering the $50 off SOG promotion, it's quite a deal. I'll be using this as my everyday carry knife.

This knife is is so awesome beautifully made every detail is sharp and crisp the jappenese Damascus blade is top notch and super sharp right out of the box. Is it worth the money I paid ? Yes it is and more it compares with high end knifes I own that cost double I would recommend it to anyone looking for a top quality item.
