I bought this beautiful trowel as a gift for my teenage son. I was looking for a wooden handle,& high quality construction,as I wanted it to last. It's substantial, has a satisfying heft,the ash-wood handle is well finished,& will last a lifetime.Its SO nice that I urged him to inscribe his initials on it,as I can see his uncle scooping it up one fine day! It even came w/ a fine burlap carrying bag. It's lovely!Since this is a traditional English trowel it's a reminder that Once Upon A Time things were made to last! If you consider the entire life cycle of your products,it's also good to know that not only will it last a long time,at the end its usefulness, there's no nasty plastic handle to sit around in a landfill forever!Since plastics leach damaging chemicals into the soil or water as they degrade, discarded plastic is a problem we must address. It's already killing wildlife via choking & digestive issues. In the ocean fish may eat small amounts & contaminants in the plastic come back to haunt us in fish entrees. Yes,this eco friendly option does cost a little more,but it's good quality,& won't break on you or bend easily as a cheaper trowel will. It also won't feminize all the frogs in your neighborhood in time if left outside in the dirt!🐸♀️🐸♀️

Reminds me of the kinds of tools that were common when I was a kid. My parent's gardening tools took all sorts of abuse, especially since us kids were always borrowing them for our own uses, leaving them in water, dirt, etc. But they held up for years. Most tools nowadays would bend, break, rust into oblivion in a single season. Not this hand trowel though! I bought this to go in a gardening bag I assembled for the wife, and I expect she'll be using it for years to come. It made a really great gift as you can immediately tell looking at it that it is high quality.

I have been looking for a garden trowel that will not bend. All the ones offered at the local hardware stores are cheap and do not last long. So I pulled the trigger and spent the money for this garden trowel. I have used it several times and it works great. It comes in a small bag. The edges are not sharp. I am sure it will metal fatigue sooner or later, but so far it works for me. Good luck!

BLUNT AND CANNOT BE SHARPENED BECAUSE IT'S STAINLESS STEEL. THE GROUND MUST BE WET OR SOFT FOR THIS TO DIG WITHOUT WEARING OUT YOUR HANDS AND WRISTS. BUY THE OLD FORGED STEEL THAT IS STRONG AND CAN BE SHARPENED

It's a bit larger than I imagined. Definitely more useful outdoors than for indoor potted plants. Also, it is MADE IN CHINA. I asked the question before purchasing but no one knew. When I received it, the plastic wrapping stated country of origin. I think the title is misleading and the company should clearly state in the description where it is made. I won't bother returning, but I did have thoughts to do so.

Our gardening group will be hand painting the handles with flowers and veggies and giving as gifts to garden owners on our garden tour.

I have planted almost 10,000 bulbs in my yard. This hand trowel handles very well. When I did up dandelions which have deep roots, I use a hammer to reach them. Thus, a plastic handle trowel is useless.

The quality of this hand trowel is superb. Very heavy duty. Will never need another one again. Thick 14 gauge stainless steel trowel shovel welded to a 3/8 inch thick diameter stainless round bar with a nice ergonomic angle bend and its securely fastened to a nice solid piece of hardwood. Awesome construction and design.
