Great so far, very impressed.
I will update this review later after I've had the pump for a while, but so far it's been great. I've put it through a lot, pumping dirty water, through a long (75' hose) uphill and I haven't had any problems at all. Not using it as a sump pump, I'm a landscaper and been using to pump muddy water & mud and I am very impressed. I didn't want to use my expensive pond pump for this, because I was worried about it clogging up. I am so happy with it I plan on purchasing another one. I did take the precaution of pumping some clear water through it after pumping the really muddy stuff, so that may have helped. Overall, I think this is a great pump. Pond pumps of this capacity (that are not recommended to even pump really dirty water and clog up with larger particles) are much much more expensive, and really don't perform any better as far as this one has. So the price of this unit vs. my utility servicing pond pump (designed for waterfalls, etc but I mainly use it for cleaning ponds) which cost around $750 doesn't do any better. I think the more expensive pump (should) have better head pressure, but for what this pump has done for now, all I can say is WOW!

Almost perfect
The amount of water this thing pumps is crazy! Bought it to drain my outdoor pool. The problem is, because of the float mechanism, it stopped when there was still 4 inches of water left...we had to trick the float so we drain more. Had to shop vac the rest, which wasnt the most convenient. The previous pump we had let us get all the water out except for where it pooled in a few uneven spots on the bottom. Nevertheless, Id still buy this again...very well made.

works great, but generates a lot of heat.
i homebrew, and i use this to recirculate the water to cool the wort. i hate the idea of how much water we home brewers use, so a recirculation system is what i needed. the good news is that this performs the task. i have a total of about 30feet of water hose and this pump has the power to move the water to my brewery, through the counter-flow chiller, and back. the bad news is that this pump generates quite a bit of heat. i freeze 25 water bottles and throw it in my 55 gallon barrel filled with water about 20min before the end of boil. the temp drops dramatically in the first 10min, but since the pump generates so much heat the water temp in the barrel will continue to rise to the point where i no longer get any benefit after the initial 15-20min. all in all, this pump dose what i need it to do. to solve my problem, i shortened the length of the hoses so that more water moves more quickly and it drops much faster in that initial 15min.

Pay less now for DIY job that costs more later.
Had this product been assembled correctly, it could have been a good unit. It turned what should have been an inexpensive DIY job into a nightmare. Had a lot of rain and needed to pump out cellar. The first issue was the adapter for different hose sizes. They should have just put in several different adapters instead of trying to save money by making it into one unit because what could have been made useful by dealing with floods and gardening, you cant connect the smaller hoses unless the adapter is cut which means if you want to use it for more than one project, your going to have to buy the extra parts separately. That's not why the one star. The one star is because the company assembled this and had QC stickers which is supposed to mean the unit got tested, but obviously it never was due to what happened next. After plugging the pump in, and standing back to watch it work, water started spraying out of the seal, or where a seal should have been in the first place and my luck, hit the power box which meant I could not walk into the water pump to unplug it or use the breakers to shut the power off. Being the cellar has only one window near the breaker box, there was no where else to put it. Had to have the power company come and pull the meter. After it was deemed safe, unplugged the device and looked at it. You could see there was no gasket, plus looked like the unit was miss drilled and still force closed which is why the water sprayed out of the sides to begin with. Had to have an electrician dry out the box and replace a lot of breakers hence how the DIY job became pretty expensive. Breakers run over $10 to $30 or more depending on type and amperage. Amazon was great in dealing with this issue as well. Ended up buying another pump.

When in doubt get the bigger one
I installed this 1/2 hp pump in a 20 gal collection container to remove rain water collecting from my swampy back yard. It is attached to a 1 1/4" hose with a rise of 4'. The pump will expell 5 gallons every 25 sec...or 10 g every 50 sec... 12 g each minute...720 gallons per hour. During a recent spring down pour it ran constant all day having difficulty keeping up with the demand. It was far short of the 2000 gal per advertised on the box. Maybe with a 2" hose and zero rise it may get closer. The on/off is of a simple design but tricky to adjust in my set up. The float could come on sooner but shut off later. I am not sure at what lenght to have the cord so it will turn on as the container fills, then shut off, after emptying the maximum. When it has emptied there remains about 1" of water that the pump does not suction out regardless of the switch position.

Bang for Buck, get this one!
The media could not be loaded. Purchased for the purpose of draining the hot tub quickly and it works very well. We attach a garden hose to it and send it 50 ' to a drain about 6' uphill from the pump. Large water volume through the garden hose and very quiet. Drains about 200 gallons in about 20 minutes. its barely enough time to do all the other hot tub chores while its draining. Perfect for this application. I had to buy a pipe to hose thread adapter . I used tape to hold the float switch to the pump body and keep the float switch underwater, easily done. Ive used it a dozen times now no issues.
