Younger Next Year: The Exercise Program: Use the Power of Exercise to Reverse Aging and Stay Strong, Fit, and Sexy [Lodge M.D., Henry S., Crowley, Chris, Fabrocini P.T. C.S.C.S., Bill] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Younger Next Year: The Exercise Program: Use the Power of Exercise to Reverse Aging and Stay Strong, Fit, and Sexy Review: This little book is the real deal! - I read the original Younger Next Year book about this time in 2008. it changed my life. For the first time I found a book that spoke directly to me in ways I could hear, learn and commit. I have been on the blessed path ever sense. This YNY Exercise Program book is long overdue and a great follow-on and reminder. In this book I again hear the wise, thoughtful and laugh out loud funny voices of Dr. Harry Lodge and Chris Crowley. The material on exercises, strength training and aerobics is as good as it gets and very clear. As a long time YNY believer, this is a great reminder and reprise of the original core concepts and teachings about the reality of aging and how each of us can take control and eliminate 70% of what is generally thought of as "aging" but is really "decay" from lack of exercise as we age. If you have never read any of the Younger Next Year books, I highly recommend this very readable and impactful book. If, like me, you are a long time YNY'er, it serves as a great stimulus to re-commit and to remind us of what got us on this path in the first place. Buy this for yourself and for others. I am 71 and younger than I was at 50. Review: Excellent motivator - I have the earlier books by these authors. I loved them. At first I thought this one might be redundant and superfluous but urged by friends I bought it. So glad I did. Unlike some other reviewers who found overlap with previous books a drawback, I found this book to be great synthesis of other material with terrific value added. Like any good teacher, the authors build on earlier material. They are great coaches keeping me motivated and explaining the benefits of the exercises. Chris acknowledges some of his own challenges he had and has adopting the lifestyle and exercises he recommends in the book. By doing this, he makes the goals seem much more attainable for the reader. The writing is clear, thoroughly engaging and with the right dose of humor. Even though from years of gym going, I already knew all of the exercises illustrated in the second half of the book, this was incredibly worthwhile for me in that the text and illustrations gave my form a much needed tune up. The explanations as to why each exercise was useful were good motivators. The book is very reasonably priced and meant I could afford this as a present for many friends. So far everyone's feedback has been great.

A Lot of Leftovers Here
I'm a huge fan of Younger Next Year. I've been doing the basic program for six years and it has really changed me for the better. Be warned that this book is mainly repackaged leftovers. If you have read the original, most of the first part will be review. The main message of the exercise program is good, but the "sacred 25" are apparently covered in Thinner Next Year (which I have not read). I also think the exercises seem to be a bit overwhelming. I doubt you could do the "warm ups" in less than 30 minutes, and the whole point of YNY is 45 minutes to 60 minutes of exercise six days a week. The book recommends to mix and match the exercises, and has a few suggested programs. Overall, however, I expected more guidance and a more manageable program. It almost seems like the purpose of the book is to lead to the purchase of the exercise DVD. Not a big deal because the book is cheap. So, overall, good effort. But, I would really have preferred an updated new edition of YNY that includes TNY and a more structured chapter on the exercises. Also, more involvement by Harry. Harry is featured a little here, but it seems largely repackaged.

Good book
I borrowed this from the library first and after reading it, decided it was good enough to purchase. It's easy to understand...use it or lose it theme...meaning..if you don't exercise, you'll be in trouble especially as you get older. It's interesting how our butts can get glued to the couch watching some nonsense on tv, but we don't have time to exercise. They're not even talking about major effort..just something every day. It's worth the read.

Helped me get back into fitness
This book was so helpful to me. I retired 3 years ago and was in the best shape of my life at that time. I was working out with a trainer twice a week and was fitter than the average person my age. I continued to work out and play tennis, etc after retirement and was physically fit. Then Covid hit. The gyms closed, tennis and other sports were discontinued and we distanced ourselves from people. As a result, I started going on long walks, but that caused some injuries. When the gyms and courts finally opened up, I was out of shape and didn’t really no where to begin. I hired a trainer, but just couldn’t get into it. Then I read this book and it gave me the right exercises and steps to get back into it. I learned so much about staying fit as you age and the importance of it. My trainer looked at the exercises and was really impressed. He said they were very good. I have been following the program for about 4 weeks and have noticed a dirfference in the way I feel and my body has gotten firmer.

It's not about losing weight or looking better, it's about gaining productive and healthy years
Younger Next Year changed my life and gave me the motivation and inspiration to join a gym and finally get into decent shape. We all know we should work out, but actually doing something about it is another matter. The authors clearly explain in an interesting way exactly what will happen to you in later life if you don't take the time today to exercise in the right way several days a week. As a former couch potato, I was immediately inspired to change my slothful ways because, for the first time, I fully understood that the consequences of not getting the right amount of exercise can be dire. It's not about losing weight or looking better, it's about gaining productive and healthy years. I am now in my 70s and often mistaken for a much younger person, sometimes by decades. Do yourself a big favor and read this book if you want to stay active, strong and healthy as you age.

This little book will be your lifelong companion if you are serious about health and fitness. There is a great craze among people about exercise, but often people do mistakes in doing exercises and that can lead to serious injuries. If you are a beginner or someone who is thinking to making exercise an integral part of life then this book is your go to guide. Although the book is little but it is concise and correctly described about importance of exercise, how to do them properly, how strength training and aerobic exercise both are essential for a great health. Keep this little book with you and it will be useful for rest of your life.

This book is exracted from Younger Next Year and updated in an extremely useful way. The original book includes great material about the importance of many aspects of "dying young as late as possible," with a focus on exercise. This book clarifies and makes more accessible the exercise part and includes access to pictorial "cheat sheets" to help you actually do it. The writing is very motivational, and I sometimes re-read it just to get me going again.

Lots of information well laid out and entertaining while educating. However, my Kindle version sated that downloads of warm up and strenth exercises sheets were available on the Younger Next Year website but I haven't been able to access them.
