ZMBK300 Advanced GPS Universal Locator

I am in Southern California (San Diego County) and got this device to track our family minivan, but after doing all the initial setup, configuring my alert zones, etc, the Zoombak didn't perform well. It failed many time to notify me when we were entering or leaving a Zone. For me it worked only 50% of the time, and there were a lot of dead spots. Since it uses T-Mobile and A-GPS (needs the cell towers to relay information), the coverage is not as good as other larger service providers. After trying it for a couple weeks, I had to return it to the store. I don't recommend it at all.

I purchased this product to track our former nanny. The device never located itself and never updated. Customer service was very challenging, spoke poor English and did not fix the problem - constantly presumed it was my fault even after walking me through the steps that I had just done and then blamed me when it wouldn't work.

Yes, Zoombak provides real time location information. But there were some expectations that were not met:- The option of a message to my mobile phone when the device enters/leaves a zone isn't reliable. It works about 80% of the time. When notifications do work, they occur about 15 minutes after the event has occurred.- The device only saves location information when you inquire it's whereabouts. I thought that I would be able to see a complete history of where the device had been, but when I look up where the device was for the last 6 hours, it only shows me where it was when I did an inquiry. So if I didn't inquire where it was for a few hours, I'll never know where it was. That time is lost.And then there's the disappointments:- The device must be within line of site of the sky. I am puzzled as to how they can say that you can mount it in the trunk. I put mine in the glove box and it couldn't communicate. It can however communicate through fabric (ie. the pouch on the back of a car seat).- Sometimes the web site experiences outages, or is slow. Although outages have been brief, it can be frustrating.Overall, I'm glad I got the Zoombak but I was expecting too much.

This unit works very well. It is able to be tracked even when inside restaurants and malls. The set-up in zoomback's website is intuitive and easy to follow. I like the fact that you can pick e-mail and cell phone notification so that wherever you are you are informed of low battery, if the device has been turned off and whether it has entered or left any of the zones you've set up. It appears that zoomback has upgraded their system so that it automatically displays on a map the whereabouts of the unit every 15 minutes, this is great.What prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that every couple of weeks or so, the system will be briefly down and the device "cannot be located", this usually lasts no more than a couple of hours (maybe zoomback is doing system maintenance during this time). However whenever I've called their customer service, they have been very helpful and responsive.

I bought this shortly after my teenager returned home after disappearing with my car for 5 days. When I got her back, this product became an integral part of re-establishing trust in her again. When she was gaining back her driving priviledges, I tracked her movements continuously and watched where she went. I caught her lying 2 times about where she was at and each time, she lost priviledges for a period of time. Since those two times, I've never caught her lying about where she's at again, and yes, I still check up on her, but not continuously as I was before!The online tracking at Zoombak.com is very easy to use. You can either do "spot checking" and see where your car is at that moment, or you can turn on "continuous tracking" and have your car tracked for an hour at a time. My only wish is that it was for longer than an hour. At the end of the hour, the tracking shuts off and you have to restart it manually.A nice feature of the Zoombak is the ability to set zone alarms. If the car goes a certain distance from the location during certain hours, you can receive either text alerts on your cell phone, emailed alerts, or both.You don't need a PC to track your car - it can be done via a cell phone, or even a call to Zoombak's customer service number.I've only had to call Customer Service twice. Once to activate the unit, and again when I thought I had a problem with the unit - turns out I did not have any problem with it - and both times the agent was very polite.I've had this permanently installed in my car so it stays constantly charged. I had Best Buy install it, and they were quick and inexpensive.Even if you do not have teen drivers, this product will help give you and your loved ones peace of mind. Cars break down, cell phones batteries run out, cars get stolen...imagine knowing that you can find out where your car is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
