Extremely nice printer unit
This unit is very nice printer/all in one unit. I have used all features of the printer and the response is simple and easy with great output quality. I am extremely happy with this unit. Set up with the disk for some reason my brand new window 7 home premium would not accept the install. I went to HP website, downloaded a newer version of software and it loaded like a charm, so I must have had an older disk that was not compatable with win7. I have not had a single problem and the scanning gives crystal clear images when scanning photos or items w/fhotos.

Works but really irritating (updated 9/6/2011) (even worse 5/2012)
5/26/2012 update: it's JUNK and no longer worth the aggravation. I bought some Avery InkJet labels to do a quick job for a friend and this thing could feed *no* pages correctly. Where a little offset might be okay on plain paper, label are less forgiving and this printer feeds sheets on a slight angle (when it actually feeds a sheet), which makes it pretty useless for all but the biggest labels. Took the labels into work and printed them on another, older HP Inkjet and they were fine. Today I tried to make a copy - one copy - of a page and I can't get it to feed a page of paper from the tray. Not new paper, not old paper, not with an encouraging licked finger pushing the paper. HP has saved so much money in production costs that they now produce a printer that is worth less than the ink cartridges you have to feed it. It is history and I'm now shopping for an equivalent from *any* other brand. How the mighty have fallen - these guys used to be the best in the biz.9/6/2011 update: I revisited this review to downgrade to one star and I see that I was there already, so I was right the first time. I recently got a new Win7 64 bit netbook, same as my Win7 64 bit notebook. Can't install this printer on the netbook. Tried doing it wirelessly and wired using the original CD; no luck. Tried downloading new (so they say) drivers from HP; no luck. Setup starts and either (a) silently stops, or (b) extracts a bunch of files and then silently stops. I now have partially installed, unusable devices and who knows how many temporary files cluttering up my new toy (the netbook, not the lame printer that still won't feed paper reliably and either can't wake up from a power saving nap *or* spends days on end never napping). This company used to be so reliable! Time to start shopping; this convenience is just too inconvenient.Original review follows.Installed easily on my Windows 7 laptop. It feels cheap, but my biggest complaint is that it will almost never feed paper. I have to go hover over it, lick my finger and sort of push/help the paper into the printer. I almost automatically get up when I send something to it because I know it will fail to feed and complain that it's out of paper.Another problem, not quite as irritating, is that once it goes into power saver mode, sending something to print won't wake it up and no key on the keypad will do anything. I have to unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Then, of course, it fails to feed the paper. On the plus side, it goes into power saver mode randomly and only once every few days (even if it has been idle for days). So the unplug/plug schtick isn't as often an irritant as the regular failure to feed paper. This is my fourth HP printer. I've been delighted up until now, but will have a hard time convincing myself to buy another one.

Very nice for the price
I had originally bought the HP 3050A photo printer. When I tried to scan documents they came out as pictures of documents. I returned that to Amazon with no hassle. I then purchased the HP4500 all in one, also from Amazon. This one works great for me. It is wireless so I don't need to crowd anything more onto my desk. I actually have it in another room and can have my work space more open. I've very pleased with this printer. Only one little glitch that might be my fault, since I'm not a whiz with software. My computer keeps asking for a photo shop app that didn't down load. It doesn't seem to be on the disk. So it might be something from a earlier printer I had that it's still looking for.I think you will be very happy with this printer. I am.

It appears I am in the minority to all the nay-sayers on reviewing this All-In-One...but I am VERY PLEASED with it!
I have read several negative reviews on this All-in-One Printer. It connected instantly with my iMac Desktop Computer. I utilize my Mac programs to Scan. It features options to Black and White or Color scanning (and the Color Scanning has color, brightness, sharpness adjustments, when needed. Ink lasts quite a long time in this unit. I do physically use paper towels to soak up the cleaned-off ink reservoir, and it has extended the life of this unit substantially. Yes, occasionally, if I do not load sheets correctly it will jam...not a big deal. The only real problem I have is the paper tray slide out portion broke at the clips....I cannot seem to find a part replacement. I did buy a second All-in-one (same exact model) to keep in the even this printer stops working (as we run a business and use this about 9 hours per day 6 days per week). So far, it just sits in storage, as this baby keeps functioning very well for me. I highly recommend it!
