Perfect for table top fountain or bird bath
I got the fountain 2 days ago, left it in the sun for a couple of hours after opening the package (as recommended), then submerged it in a large china bowl that I placed as decoration on my patio table. No assembly required, just had to choose which water spray I wanted by attaching one of the nibs provided. The fountain worked immediately and beautifully. The fact that the fountain has suction cups prevents it from floating and splashing water outside of the container. The battery pack (attached to the bottom) allows the fountain to work in the shade for a few hours. I had guests at home until late: the fountain worked way past sunset and added a relaxing feel to the party. When the battery runs out of power, the device just stops; it starts working again as soon as the sun hits the panels, and the battery recharges itself. I can't assess the durability of the device since I have had it for only two days, but I absolutely love it and may buy two more: one to entertain my outside cats--they are fascinated by the moving water--and one for a bird bath. I will have to update this review to assess the durability of the device, and therefore its value/price ratio. So far, I am very happy with this purchase.

Solar fountain for birdbath
We purchased this fountain to put into a birdbath for our front yard. The product arrived quickly, and all pieces were there. We put it together very easily and let it sit in the sun to charge. When we put it in our birdbath, it took a little dunking to get it going, but it had a wonderful spray. We had to fill our birdbath a few times the first day because there was a breeze and the water would blow out of our bath. That was the birdbath problem, not the fountain. So we tried a different spray top since there were multiple choices. It was fine until the wind started blowing again. We then left the spray topper off and just had it as a bubbler. That worked all day without having to fill the bath. We can’t get it to suction onto the bottom of the bath, but we needed rocks in the bath anyway since it was a little deep for the birds. We positioned the rocks around the base to keep it from moving. We are going to get a bigger basin in hopes that the water will last longer, but until then, the bubbler attachment works great and the birds seem to like it too. We will probably purchase one for the back yard as well since it works so nicely. With a bigger basin though! :)

Works great -- once I modified it somewhat
I wanted to add a fountain to my birdbath primarily to help cool the water on hot summer days, and also to help combat algae growth and mosquito larvae. Once I got thing working correctly, it seems to be doing just that. However there are two problems with this product that I had to solve first, the first problem being getting it to stay attached to the bottom of the birdbath (instead of floating around), the second being that the spray was too powerful to keep the water from spraying out of the birdbath bowl. However, I was able to address both problems. The manufacturer attempted to address the first problem (keeping it from floating around) by putting little suction cups on the bottom of the pump unit. Sometimes those suction cups work, sometimes they don't, especially if the bowl has a rough texture to it or if there's some pre-existing algae growth that I didn't manage to clean off. Even when the suction cups do work, the little case that contains the electronics (or battery case?) that is off to one side is evidently buoyant, so that IF the suction cups work THEN the fountain is tilted. My guess is that the manufacturer could simply add a weight to the fountain (not Lead (Pb) please!) to keep it on the bottom. My solution was to use Scotch ™ brand indoor/outdoor fasteners (the kind you use to mount transponders on the inside of your car's windshield), one half on the electronics case and on the pump, with the other half on the bowl of the birdbath. As an extra bit of assurance that the side of the fastener would stay attached to the bottom of the birdbath bowl in wet conditions, I additionally fastened down that side of the fastener with a little dab of Loctite® PL® Marine Fast Cure®. Perhaps that was overkill, but it is DEFINITELY staying put, and using the fasteners means I can remove it for the winter. The second problem is that the fountain was simply overpowered, given the variety of nozzles that were provided. No matter what nozzle I chose, the water shot up perhaps 2 feet, which is about the same as the diameter of the birdbath bowl. The slightest bit of breeze, and the water would spray outside of the bowl, and I'd end up with a dry birdbath (the sensor to turn off the fountain once it's dry does work well). Also, spraying up so high meant that an appreciable amount of water would simply splash out, and I'd end up with a dry birdbath again. I did search around for larger bowls, but they don't seem to exist. My solution to this second problem was to use the single-hole nozzle (which was still too strong) and to carefully drill out the hole to make it a larger diameter nozzle. Now the spray is only about 1 foot high, half the diameter of the bowl, and I don't have a problem keeping water in the bowl. The manufacturer could perhaps supply nozzles that are a little less aggressive.

Worked great but it didn’t last
I bought this late last summer and it worked better than expected, although the pump did keep getting clogged by whatever algae ended up accumulating in the bird bath so it needed constant maintenance. With all the rain we just had I noticed it had stopped again so I went to clean it only to discover the thin clear coat over the top that protects the solar panel turned opaque/white on one half and that was enough to kill it completely. Maybe I can try stripping it and recoating it somehow, but why bother? Just get one that will last.

Worked Perfectly Right Out Of The Box!!
The reason I purchased this unit was because it promised to work even in low light conditions. Well, I can definitely attest that it definitely does work in cloudy conditions!! As soon as I put the head onto the unit and popped it into the bird bath, it began pumping and spraying right away! It was totally overcast and it kept shooting a steady stream until the sun was obviously down low even behind the clouds. Nice build quality and operates as advertised, all for a very reasonable price. So in my opinion a great value. Definitely recommended.

No suction power
The various nozzles work great but no suction power and run time is only 15 minutes without continually adding water
