mixed reviews
speaker phone reception is great.bad reception when far from base. our old phone had better reception at our workshop. with this phone, there is a lot of static.you have to go through several steps in order to insert a "1" in front of the caller ID number in order to return the call or store in memory. my old phone gave that option readily.i still am not able to make a 3way call. i used to be able to do by just pressing flash. doesn't seem to work with this one.i like that the numbers light up when you dial -- quite important at our age :)i like that when you press a speed dial number, it shows you the number (which means you really do not have to memorize the speed dial number you assigned to a number).will i choose this phone over our old phone? well... i wish all their good features were in one phone! it's like the search for the perfect purse! :D

Great system
We love having phones where we don't have jacks. Living in a 100+ year-old home provides many limitations, not the least of which is the lack of wiring. With this system, it doesn't matter. We keep the base in the kitchen and the extra phones evenly distributed through the house. The one drawback (the reason for 4 stars) is that the base unit doesn't mount "flush" to a wall--it's made for countertop, and it "sits" against the wall mount, as if it's hovering in the air. If it were mountable flat against the wall and had a way to hang the phone, it would be better for us. If you're putting it on a tabletop, it's not a problem. I love that the stored phone numbers can be put into one phone and then copied to the others. The room monitor is great if you're upstairs at the back of the house and want to check on what the kids are doing downstairs. Every phone has a speaker phone function. I just can't say enough about it. Good system--great price!

Good product. Fast service. Well packaged and left no physical blemishes of any sort.
On March 2, 2010, I purchased a Uniden TRU9485-3, a 5.8GHz cordless telephone and answering system from an Amazon company called Sales Masters. This order also shipped with dual keypads and two extra handsets--all of which worked up to the specifications given me by them (I can't say the same thing about a couple of recent computer systems I recently purchased elsewhere...oh well, Caveat emptor as they say;) Those at Sales Masters appear never to have studied Latin otherwise I could not praise them as being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. They demonstrated themselves as being of the timber necessary to becoming good Scouts--a breed whom (alas) has declined in numbers in recent years. In my day these were the kind of boys who would've bucked for Eagle Scout!Perhaps most importantly, they actually shipped the units in a timely manner--and this alone was enough to make a permanent customer out of me. Do not hesitate to do business with the people behind Sales Masters. Although my experience with them did not require them to make some problem--whether real or imagined--*right* (getting the job done correctly the first time has this effect you know). I was left with the personal impression that they would have ameliorated any customer-related disquietude that can arise with little or no warning without a hitch--and do so without resorting to hurtful language.I would have given them a 10-star rating if not constrained by the lower numbers currently assigned by Amazon...Highly recommended--both for the excellent service they supply and the unquestionable quality of their merchandise! Two very large thumbs up!Paramadman (DT Hazelrig

Great,, but is 5.8 GHz safe?
Functionally this is a great phone. I put one accessory handset/base set in my mother's bedroom and use the room monitor function at night instaed of buying a separate baby monitor. It is easy to turn on at night. Then I read at [...] not to use anything over 900 mhz because all the Gigaherz phone stay on continuously, bombarding you with radiation around the clock. But 900 mgz are obsolete and not so easy to find. I ended up buying a corded phone with digital answering machine, phonebook etc. as a compromise. As far as the room monitoring, I asked, does it make sense to fry our brains trying to save our lives?Obviously, this is a provocative question because the evidence is controversial. If you don't believe the evidence that the 24/7 radiation is harmful or must have a state of the art cordless phone, this one seems to be the best buy, based on my experience and word of mouth from a highly tech-savvy relative who--like most tech pro's dismisses the risks.

Features are Great but reception was poor
Like the previous reviewer, I also had an issue with the volume fading during the conversation. It would eventually come back if I walked closer to the base, but it was quite frustrating. I also had an issue with poor reception/static when I was on a different floor of the house than where the base was located. The distance was well within the published range, and I live in a standard, wood-frame house. I have not experienced these problems with other cordless systems. I called Uniden support, but the wait times were "over 15mins", so I am just returning this product. It really is a shame, as I was looking forward to using this feature-rich phone system for years to come.

Horrible unit
I paid $130.00 for this unit and 30.00 for an extra handset. I have used them since November and all I can say is they have the worst range I have ever seen on a cordless phone. Even worst than the original cordless units that came out years ago. I consistently get readings saying I am out of range even when I am standing next to another charging unit and phone. The static is unbearable to the point it sounds like I am on a cell phone and I have to apologize to the people I am speaking to because they only hear every other word. The unit's features are minimal and the ringer choices are annoying. I paid to much for the unit and only purchase it because of the reviews. So either mine is a dud or someone has been feeding their reviews for the product.
