Is this really made out of magnesium as it states? Other sellers say the same looking item is iron or steel! (or is it aluminum?)

Can you core and slice without peeling the apple?

Yes, easily. There is a a lever that locks the peeler arm back

Can this be used to peel oranges

No. The inside of the orange is too soft. The spears that go into it would just circle around inside of the orange so the orange wouldn't rotate to be peeled. This happens with soft apples as well so you really need fresh apples with this. I just saw that it can peel potatoes! You would just remove the corer part.

how do you clean after using?

It's pretty important that you get all the juice off and dry it well. The finish on the "stainless" parts is pretty lousy, and will chip, peel and discolor if it's not washed thoroughly and dried completely.
