Certified Refurbished Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Smart speaker with Alexa - Heather Grey Fabric

Over the last few months I have added several refurbished Echo Dot 3 devices to our home and home offices. They are a great way to get into home automation by slowly adding remote control devices for lighting, power, robot cleaner, TV etc.Voice recognition is not bad generally - pretty good actually considering the complexity of the English language! Alexa does hiccup occasionally with hilarious responses or no response at all so the command has to be repeated, but overall, it is pretty impressive that you can now control so much of what is in your home even from outside of it using the app.I have found the sensitivity of the microphones pretty impressive as well as some devices located in other areas sometimes respond instead of the one you are actually talking to.So many uses for these devices and great for quick information from the internet. It is also nice to play radio or music selections on.As we have home offices, they also make great intercomms so you don't have to keep walking everywhere to talk to someone. I am planning on putting one in our barn soon which is quite some distance from the house, but it will be easy to connect via Wi-Fi.

Long time user of fire tv and Alexa remote but first time user of smart speaker .For me in a portable speaker sound is everything, and I’m not disappointed . For such a compact unit it’s immense . It goes loud . But too loud and it distorts like mad , but that’s really cranked up . The sound easily fills my living room it’s good too plays Spotify well with lots of clarity detail and just the right amount of bass . Impressive for such a small speaker. i Can’t say how it would be in a bigger flat or house though.Features wise My son was initially freaked out by an electronic voice talking to him (he’s only young ) however me being stupid with the messaging feature made him more comfortable. This is by far my favourite feature , I can be in a different room and text a message (through the app) and it reads it out loud in Alexa voice , funny and useful .Shame it’s got to be plugged in all the time but I suppose the battery wouldn’t last long other wise .I think it’s got lots more tricks fit me to discover but I’ve only had it a day .

Took a gamble on this buying a refurbished unit at the slightly discounted price of a new one. No need to worry. It has been an excellent performer and the sound quality is quite good. Always a little where is though now of what it is listening to and strangely the things that subsequently appear as adverts on my mobile phone. But hey that’s another story. .No qualms about buying a refurbished product now.

Linked my phone up to it playing tidal through other speakers great very convenient would recommend definitely

I just love this purchase!Looks and behaves just like new at only 16 quid! What's not to try here!The ease of connection via the app is brilliant.Then connecting your Amazon account is effortless.I love the ability to listen to radio stations that I could no way listen to without this, at just a voice request.Voice recognition is amazing!! I mean amazing - everything I speak is recognised effortlessly.Audio quality is extraordinary given the size, but the added benefit is the 3.5mm jack output which is true stereo and sounds amazing on headphones or through Hi-Fi.I initially resisted buying this because I couldn't justify buying, but I have been converted!!Really at this price you should give Alexa a go.I even bought Spotify just for this - something I previously said I'd never buy!!
