A highly desirable, budget minded bush craft/camp knife
A perfectly acceptable bush craft knife at 1/4 of the price. Well made, mostly, and designed to be used, not looked at. Great choice in steel, 1095. The only real drawback is the fit between the grip handles and the tang. The space will disappear with a dremel and all will be fine. Speaking of the handles, the curves that are made fit just right allowing a good solid grip, The jimping is at the right location and amount of bite, although the spine may not throw the best of sparks from a rod. Speaking of the steel, 1095 is my favorite- plenty hard but still easy enough to take an edge. Sure it will rust if un-cared for but why would you not put a drop of oil on the thing every once in a while. And this thing is a slab of steel, really rugged like a tank. Just like the high class leather sheath, all is good.

This model is one of the best products from Schrade.
I like the quality and they were smooth, well made and I like the design. The size is perfect. Granted, sometimes bigger is better, but this is a nice size, compact, but not tiny or thin. Some felt the handle material was too slippery, but I like smooth handles on knives because then they are easier to clean and unless you are gripping the knife in a death grip and trying to push it through hard material it's fine. And it feels good and will not create any hotspots or blisters on your hand. For the price, they are a great value.

I bought this knife for a utility knife for a 7.5 week trip to the Panamanian Jungle for a missions trip. Upon arrival the blade was pretty sharp, not crazy sharp but sharp for the relative thickness of the blade (which I really like). It came with a leather sheath that also seemed of good quality for the price I paid. After the trip I noted a few things:--The blade held up decent for the practical destruction test of which I put it through (one of the locals chopped concrete with it -_-)-- The knife for the most part held up well under the constantly wet conditions, but there was rust on the parts of which were engraved. I believe this is due to the fact that the coating wasn't on those areas of the blade.-- after a lot of use the scales were loosened a little, but can be easily tightened back up with an allen wrench.-- the part of the sheath that clips around the handle of the knife gets cut by the blade a little when you remove it. (I just made it a point to hold the leather strip out of the way from then on to help reduce wear)-- also the snap on the sheath is too good, literally too good. it is hard to open sometimes and it is practically pulling off of the leather after repeated use.In the end this knife is a great knife for the amount of money I paid for it. I beat the crap out of this knife and it is still a perfectly useable and trustworthy knife. I would buy this knife again for the price I paid

Great Knife
This is a really good knife was taken back how well this was built the craftsmanship is very very nice. Took it out and did some chopping, splitting, feathering. It may have been only 3 in wide wood but the knife split it like butter, did well with chopping for being a smallish knife and the feathering was fair. Feels great in my hand just great, I wasn't able to cut paper with it but I don't have it for that. It was sharp even after working it some. I have 8 knives this is the second best knife I have right now the first is esee 6 but if schrade keeps making them like this it just may start moving even more up the ladder.

The Better Schrade SCH42 Frontier.
I liked the 42 size and usefulness, but not the inner curve on the blade, so was eager to get my hands on the 42D. It was worth the wait.I'm a fan of Schrade knives, they provide a great price point product. I have numerous more expensive knives, but I'm astounded by how well the Schrade 1095 holds up and takes an edge. The sheath is as everyone says, simple and sturdy. I don't like the grivory handles, but I wrap most of mine anyway, and with a little hockey tape, it's just fine. It came sharp, but after a few minutes with a strop, it was shaving sharp. This is a workhorse, and I'm comfortable using and abusing this blade. An ideal 'working' bushcraft knife (but I'm not gonna give up my Bark River Gunny yet - horses for courses, and all that.)

been using this knife for bushcraft
This knife is a little on the big side of most everything; It's just a little thicker, a little, longer, and a little heavier than others I looked at. I like that it feels like I have more substance in my hand and i like the size a little better for any choping motion on a branch or tree. Given its thickness it is more work to put a razor edge on (it also does not come the sharpest out of the box), but its a knife you can make it sharp. You also don't have to worry about losing allot of material from being bad at sharpening cause there is some to spare. It 1095 HC so it will throw sparks if you get a rock like chirt or flint. I live at the beach and I have had it for around 5 months and i do not have problems with rust. The sheath is pretty decent, and I like the exposed bottom tang. The back is a good edge, and is great with a decent size ferro rod. The handle is fine, I am almost completely satisfied with this purchase, the only thing that still bugs me is the grind on this knife. It works and holds a edge, but I think it is hard to put an edge on it considering the grind and thickness. If the maker is reading this, release this knife in a convex or scandi grind PLEASE. I would buy another knife just for that, it'd make it easier to sharpen, better looking, and better for woodworking. BTW the price has gone up a bit since I bought it.

Hands down this is the best $34. 00 I've ever spent
Hands down this is the best $34.00 I've ever spent! IMHO you will need to re-profile the edge as it is not really that great for woods tasks like feathersticking <-------------(IS THAT A WORD) and fine detailed work. It does however baton very well and the knife feels very Substantial in hand and is on par with my ESEE 4, and my TOPS Baja 4.5 in other words its well made and the leather sheath is very well made. IMHO if your a seasoned outdoorsman or just a beginner you will not be disappointed with this knife and sheath.

robusto e pratico

A dir poco ottimo
