A decent knife for the price that is a little light.
I just bought a motorhome and was looking to build a set of knives for my unit when I came across this knife, so I ordered it. Here is what I found:1. Price wise, this is a VERY inexpensive knife!!! Quality knives tend to run several times the price of this one.2. The knife is basically well made. The blade feels like it is a stamp as the back of the knife has some rough edges like you would get with a stamped blade.3. The Tang feels hollow which may explain why the knife feels so light. While a heavy knife may seem like a bad thing, too light a knife is also an issue. The weight of the knife assists you with your cuts and reduces the effort you need to put into the work. While this is a very usable knife for quick work, I would not want to use it for anything taking much time.4. The dimples are supposed to help keep food from sticking to the knife. I have never run into a problem with my knives on anything that I have cut except maybe a very soft cheese so I cannot say if these help or not. I had no problems chopping vegetables or cutting up a tenderloin into steaks or cutting a flank steak into strips for a stir fry. I usually use a wire for cheese.5. I normally hand wash my knives, but i did run this one through several washes in a dishwasher and found no problems with doing so. I do open my dishwasher to allow the dishes to finish drying. I do not think I would leave this in a current generation dishwasher without doing that as most of them really never get dishes dry (that is how they became so energy efficient). I do not think it prudent to leave a knife wet for any period of time. All in all, a good value especially considering the price of the knife. While this is not a knife I would go out and acquire a second one of (due to the lightness of the knife), I would certainly recommend it for a starter knife or as a backup knife as it also seems to keep a sharp edge. I am also adding it to my motorhome.

Great knife, great price
The first thing I have to say is that the superlatives in my review are based largely on what you are getting for this low price. If this was a costlier knife, I WOULD expect more, but for ordinary use at this low price it's a great deal. It's very lightweight, which I appreciate because of arthritis in my hands that causes them to ache after much chopping or slicing. The handle is comfortable in my hand and has a non-slip coating. The blade is outrageously sharp. I admit I have been guilty of the mortal sin of putting my good knives in the dishwasher, causing them to dull because of the harsh detergent. I will NOT do that with this knife because I want that sharp blade to last! The scallops on the blade, designed to keep food from sticking to the blade as you chop or slice, are a bit shallow so they're not quite as effective. Also, they are a mite high up on the blade, so they won't help if you're chopping something smaller than the 1/4" distance between the bottom of the scallops and the sharp blade. Not a big deal. The knife comes in an attractive presentation box, embedded in a black velvety recessed area and embedded in foam. Nice for gift-giving, but while I COULD store the knife in this box, it will take up a lot of space in my knife drawer. I would have preferred a plastic sheath to the fancy box, but then, I'm keeping this, not gifting it.All told, a dandy and very useful knife for the price.

Extremely sharp, best knife ever for the money
It seems that most of my life I have been on a hunt for a knife that actually delivered on its promises. I have bought cheap ones and expensive ones but they always seem to have let me down when it came to shear cutting power. This knife is different. It is nicely sized, comfortable to use, and extremely sharp. My finger (see photo) is proof.I liked the way it looked, nicely gift boxed and reasonably priced so I decided to take a look at the reviews. I was captured in an ah-ha moment when I read a review that stated the real test was whether or not this knife could withstand the diced tomato test, and if so, that would be the knife for them. I decided then and there that yes this would be the ultimate test as I am too familiar with the squished tomatoes when I have tried to dice them. I actually resorted to just buying diced ones from the supermarket. But this was to be a challenge, I would take this knife to the challenge.I diligently watched many you tube videos on techniques to dice tomatoes and finally decided to try my luck. I was amazed at the results I had and the ease of doing it but also decided to tackle my next dreadful task, diced onions. Once again, success but not without getting "caught" by the dreaded sharp knife. (see photos)It was all worth it though as I feel I have finally tamed my most formidable culinary challenges, the tomato and the onion. I would definitely recommend this product, and please be assured it is very sharp so watch those fingers.

A lot to like about an inexpensive Chinese made Santoku style Knife.
A good knife for the price, but the blade is a little thin and not of the highest quality steel. I would not recommend use on bone. It will dull easier that you might expect, and is sharpened on both sides which differs from many Japanese style knives which are sharpened only on one side. I'm not sure about the Santoku style, though, I don't have an authentic Japanese version, so my other versions are sharpened on both sides. They also have much thicker blades. The scallops because of the knife thickness are much shallower than most types. They are used to help separate foods from sticking to the blade when slicing or chopping. It does not help as much as they are very shallow on the thin light blade. The handle is very ergonomic and the knife is light and nimble. It should be sharpened after each use, or it can quickly become dull. A mild recommend for a the low price and design. There are better knives of this type, but they do cost significantly more. A German made version sells for over 15 times as much right here on the Zon, so unless you are a chef, this will do nicely for most home use. Recommended, for a low end, but decent quality version.
