Worked XLNT for me!!!! No chupacabras inside yet!
This little device used in conjunction with the peephole camera worked beyond AbFAB for me.Unsure what the issue is with other reviews.... perhaps distance? lack of proper installation?, lack of understanding it's capabilities? ....???I used it until the 'condo association' instructed me to take down 'the camera'. Although this looks nothing like a camera, it obviously has a purpose and someone on my floor did not 'take' to the installation of it on the outside of my front door (facing the hallway). Lack of removal would consist of 'fines, fines, fines'.So, in the long run..... this unit worked absolutely fabulous for 2-3+ months. It is an obvious 'something or another' installed onto the outside of any door ---- so beware. Other than that, it took every pic of daily vacuuming of the hallway, anyone approaching my door, etc etc. I just loved the fact that I could review anything should I have thought 'anything' occurred in my unit. And of course I used it in conjunction with the Brinno Peephole unit (which is the REAL camera). And to this day, the peephole cam still works FAB!!I will be reinstalling this unit to the inside of my unit facing the frontdoor. Oh yes, that day is coming.... but as the rest of us..... it's coming when I've the time. It's proven a most useful item in my little world and I just need to make the time to reinstall elsewhere ---- it has beyond proven it's usefulness, not to mention the investment made. One other note: when the two units are used together, they suck the live out of batteries. So I'd rec using Lithium batts when poss. That's it!!!!FAB item!!! (which requires the other FAB item (peephole unit))Beyond that, I've not one bad word to say about the unit//system!Tally ho!!! No Chupacabras getting into my place!! That is until a few months ago ......and so far, even without ---- A-OKAY!

It works as part of a late 1990's peephole camera system for a high price.
This is a must have for the Brinno peephole viewer because it gets the viewer to automatically take photos of people that come to the door. You can then know who you missed while you were out or otherwise not able to answer the door. The main problem with this system is that the viewer takes 2-3 seconds to wake up once motion is detected, so therefore you won't snapshot anyone that doesn't linger around. The UPS man typically runs up, drops the package, rings the doorbell, and runs away. He isn't trying to be elusive, but he easily beats this system. If your porch area has a long approach area, you might try moving the detector a ways away from the door to try and catch a visitor as early as possible. My house geometry has visitors coming around a blind corner to approach the porch, so I really need a faster response. The game cameras from Walmart/BassPro are better than this system since for $89 they have night vision, HD video, snapshots, and a trigger fast enough for critters. The Brinno system costs more, has no night vision, and takes only low resolution photos of what the limited angle of the peephole shows. They really ought to just throw this in for free given how overpriced the viewer is, but instead this is a pricey add-on.

It works
Ordered this to pair with Brinno PHV133012 Digital Peephole viewer. Could not be simpler to set up and it's self-operating. As this installation was part of a house-painting, I went so far as to mask the eye and power indicator and throw a couple of coats of the house trim color on the grey portion of the face plate and the top of the base to minimize it's visual impact.Looks great, which doesn't matter to anyone but me because with where I put it if you don't know it's there you'll never see it, and it works like a charm.Maybe a little pricey but super simple. (I'm famously cheap!)If you're going to paint it, it's very important to mask the eye and indicator. If you don't mask the eye it won't work at all and if you don't mask the indicator it will be difficult to tell when it quits working, (battery operated, right?)

Don’t waste your money
It didn’t work and when I sent it back I never got refunded so I lost the money. I ended up going to Ring.com

Ok, but needs some work
The motion detection works about half the time. The overall system the peep hole and motion detection system are a great idea, but this system needs a lot of work from the manufacturer and them it would be a great system to own! The peep hole camera needs to be upgraded to a better camera that didn't have such a glare to it and better focusing!

Too sensitive
No way to mask area of sensitivity. A lot of trial to perform to find a position where passerby or traffic in the street not triggering the sensor.

This is just a toy
I don't mean to give negative score to this product. The idea is great but performance is poor.If you want to use this product for just for fun then it is fine (like capturing kids at front door, visitor, etc). If you want serious security matter, then this item is not the one. By capturing thru peep hole, it gives very limited area of captured picture Only stupid burglar will stand right in front of the hole and say cheese.... The motion detection is not in sync with camera when capturing, camera can't even capture myself when I enter the house. Bottomline.. it is expensive for security purpose. By paying this amount, get some other brands that give more serious business.

not a big fan
I bought this to monitor door outside and of course the smallest movement kicks off a recording. If you have plants around that move with the wind.. you'll fill up the SD card in no time ;-)

Disappointing performance
Slow response. Quite often the person who was detected at the door has left by the time the image is taken.
