"A Touch of Frost is one of the best crime dramas to come out of Britain "The Toronto Sun A Touch of Frost is one of Britains most successful detective series and stars award-winning actor David Jason as Detective Inspector Jack Frost, a policeman with a knack for attracting trouble. Set in the dreary town of Denton, Frost approaches each case with his characteristic dry wit and a sense of moral justice. A Touch of Frost Season 5 includes: "Penny for the Guy" Two boys go missing and one of the youths is found murdered. When the owner of a large supermarket chain agrees to pay the kidnapped boys ransom, the police get involved and the plot fails. Time is running out for the kidnapped boy and Frost is frustrated by the lack of evidence needed to make an arrest. "House Calls" A face from the past may be responsible for a series of assaults on children. But, for once, sentimentality dictates Frosts actions. The result is a nightmare scenario that leaves Frost going to extraordinary lengths to vindicate himself, the investigation and his career. "True Confessions" A mans church confession provides insight into what may be a straightforward case of matrimonial murder. But, before Frost can arrest the killer, he is suspended due to the outcome of a related case from a decade ago. "No Other Love" All families have secrets, but perhaps none so shocking as that which Frost unearths when he investigates the brutal murder of Peter Lawson. To make matters worse, Frost finds himself without a partner when DC Barnard is killed.

very entertaining and realistic detective series.
Far too many detective/spy stories depend upon a bit too heavy dose of suspension of disbelief. Not so Jack Frost. Very realistic to even Canadian investigations.

A Fine Season
David Jason completely inhabits pugnacious Frost, relying on his gut to solve mysteries whilst supplementing such with innumerable servings of fish & chips. By Season Five, the picture-quality has noticeably improved, with more filming in interesting landscapes. The story-lines have also gained in complexity. "Penny For The Guy" features kidnappers, and a missing child. "House Calls" involves housing-demolition and old/new murder cases. "True Confessions" is a stand-out with a great cast; fans will appreciate seeing the wonderful Jane Wymark ("Midsomer Murders"), the always excellent Anthony Calf, and the delightfully ginger Eion McCarthy. In "No Other Love," Frost is reunited with long-suffering DS Clive Barnard (Matt Bardock); Supt. Mullett is on the warpath, and Frost is hammered with another tragedy.

An unpolished Morse
Frost is an English policeman in a mid sized city who is an unpolished Morse. He is not neat, dislikes authority (comicelements in both),but is clever, brave, lucky, and empthetic with victims. For nearly every episode he has a new police partner and girl friend (the woman sidekick in House Calls is particularly interesting). The acting, photography, music, and character development of the principals is excellent as usual. Set 5 has the "usual" 4 episodes (Set 4 is exceptional-5 episodes and an interview). All story lines are "grabbers"-I watched the whole set over 1 weekend.I did find 2 of the 3 disks unviewable in my oldest DVD player, but they were fine in my newest one.Frost's character continues to develop-in this set,we see him under investigation and writing a letter of resignation. Does he resign? I think not-there are still 5 more sets to come.

One of the best series I have enjoyed
This is one of the very best series I have ever enjoyed. David Jason is impeccable as Jack Frost, a seasoned detective. The amazing part of the film is the tremendous depth of character displayed by Jack Frost. Frost deals in the very real world of ignorance, greed, and political power mongering with a depth of wisdom which is seldom shown in TV or Movie drama. If you are tired of the shallow and stupid characters often displayed in the entertainment industry this is a refreshing change.

Same as Season 6 review
I thoroughly enjoyed all the Frost DVD's. Episodes are all well written and there is a nice balance of wit and humour in each episode. Thankfully there is not alot of CSI type mumbo jumbo and the villian is usually a nice little surprise. My only quibble is that it is not clear that each investigation is a team exercise so at times Frosts faithful sgt suddenly announces a leap forward in the plot because of some other officers queries. As I say a minor quibble, there is after all only so much time in an episode. Highly recommended.

Frost is toasty warm
My husband and I have watched all fourteen seasons over the last several months. I find DI Frost(Detective Inspector - very British), human, believable, flawed, but likable. DI Frost is a British detective working in the town of Denton. Denton, it seems is rife with murders, child molesters, extortionists and other dastardly types. He has a new partner most weeks which I found disconcerting at first, but came to appreciate. Most episodes have multiple story lines, and it's hard to determine the guilty parties early. A good detective story, great recurring characters.

Touch of Frost
I've enjoyed all the Touch of Frost stories - what a warrior David Jason is to be still acting in this series at his age! Good for him. He might look more 'mature' than he did at the start of the series, but I think that's the only difference. Good on him! Thanks. Gwen

Frost is up there with Morse
We are big Frost fans. We just continue to purchase each season's series even though we know they were made two decades ago. Love the actors and characters, and each series' story is first rate writing.

More Frost
Another good season of Frost.I always enjoy David Jason...but wish the writer gave us a few more smiles in each episodes. Some episodes seem to have no smiles at all. 'Frost'could easily use more of his excellent dry wit without changing his character too much. The earlier series seemed to be slightly 'lighter', so I miss that somewhat. But, that said, ALL the cast are excellent actors. The acting is the draw-card.Frost, always and good buy and a good watch.

I have watched all fifteen seasons over and over and still love David Jason's role as Inspector Frost
First rate detective series, I have watched all fifteen seasons over and over and still love David Jason's role as Inspector Frost. Frost's characteristic dry wit and determination to find the truth, makes every episode a winner.

A Touch of Frost season 5- definately another 5 star season
Season 5 of A Touch of Frost is again a whole new 4 episodes and every one of them is good. The writers of this program are really talented. Once you start on this series you can't put them down.
