Open Screw Type Speaker Banana Plugs

I had a "cat mishap" that broke the banana plug on the jumper/patch cable that came with my Klipsch Atmos speaker intended to go with the Atmos connection found on top of my Klipsch RP-8000F speakers. I couldn't find anybody that sold these exact short wires that Klipsch provides with their Atmos speakers. So I did the next best thing: I ordered these banana plugs that are the closest match I could find from the original. These look like the banana plugs that came with the OEM Klipsch wires, including the build quality, design, and "single screw" to mount the wire for ease of installation. About the only difference was the diameter of the plug where you insert the wire, which was a little smaller than the original banana plug. Connection quality and sound quality were good with no difference detected from the OEM banana plugs that came with my Klipsch Atmos speakers.

Seem to be quality plugs and are not magnetic so are probably copper as the seller states. The one thing I don't like is that the silicone/rubber/plastic sleeves are so slippery that when trying to remove the plugs after plugging them in, the sleeve slides off the metal plug and you will have to grab the metal portion to remove the plug. If it's a tight fit you may even have to use pliers.

These work great for benchtop ham radio power supplies that take a banana clip. These aren't the cheap-o crimp-on types, either. They're super solid, have a good weight to them, and have a screw to hold the wire in. They're great for permanent installation, if that's what you're after, but are easily removable if you want to use a different option. I've used them on two of my bas station radios, and they fit well in 16- and 14-gauge wire. The colors are unmistakable, so there's no plugging them in wrong by accident. They connect solidly, and do not fall out when moving things around.

I totally ignored the fact they are 4 mm. Just proves that Americans can't deal with the metric system. These are well made just, to small.

I've used several different brands and styles of banana plugs and these are by far my favorite. I've bought them several times and don't see that changing any time soon. Factory made cables are just to expensive, and often the quality is suspect at best. The set screw on these plugs is larger than most, which makes tightening them easier. I learned a trick from another review that makes these plugs very solid. I buy 14-16 gauge stranded OFC cable and strip the wire twice the length of the banana plug shaft. Then I bend the wire in half and slip the resulting loop into the shaft. This procedure makes it nearly impossible for wire to be pulled out of the plug. I don't care for the providrd plastic covers, and instead use color coded heat shrink to cover the shaft. This offers a good grip while preventing the set screw from getting loose.

These work great, they are the set screw type so they say on the wire. The protective cover slips right on and their very easy to use and are of good quality. Also more compact compared to some of the other brands if room is a little problem.

I got these to wire up a small studio monitor system that included passive speakers with bare wire/banana capable posts on the back. The description indicated that these plugs have set screws so you can tamp down the speaker wire inside to be sure you have good contact with the plugs. They looked perfect in the picture and description: gold plated, individual black and red pieces with well fitting insulation around them, and a very attractive price for six pairs of these. This may sound nitpicking but the first thing I noticed is that they are hard to open. They come in a plastic bag with a press-to-close strip at the top, which I could not get open without cutting it. Inside are six individual tiny bags with the sets of plugs, also with press to close strips. I could not open any of these by hand, eventually cutting them open, and even then the plugs were hard to get out of the bags because the soft plastic insulation tends to stick to the bags. The plugs are also smaller than I thought and come with no documentation, so when I noticed that I could not see any set screws,I thought that maybe I had received the wrong order or maybe you screw the wire into the sockets of the plugs, so I tried that, but soon realized that it didn't work that way; the wires came out as soon as I tried to unplug one of the plugs, and the plastic insulation slid off at the same time, which is when I noticed that the screw is underneath the insulation, which of course is not easy to slide back to expose the screw, but that is what you must do to get at it The screw is also nearly microscopic in size. You will need a jewelers screwdriver or one from a glasses repair kit to open this screw, and good luck if you unscrew it too much and it falls out. Once I got past all this, I was able to, by being VERY careful and patient, get the bare wires attached to the banana plugs and get the speakers wired up. The plugs are quite secure in their sockets-so much so that if you need to remove them you will probably slide the insulation off too. So your decision is this: these function nicely-once you get past the annoyances of dealing with them. If you have a low threshold of patience maybe consider some different ones. If you are very patient, forgiving and into using small tools, these will ultimately do the job.

These are easy to use, great quality and now the standard I use for all speaker cables.

These VCELINK banana plugs are well‑made and easy to work with. The open screw design makes it simple to attach the speaker wire securely, and the connection feels tight with no wobble or jiggle. The gold plating is clean and helps give a good, reliable contact. Once fitted, they sit firmly in the speaker terminals , maybe a bit too tight, but since I don't plug them in and out often it is not a problem for me. The only thing to be aware of is that the metal barrels are a bit lighter than some premium brands, but for the price they perform really well and look tidy once installed. Great value if you want a straightforward, no‑nonsense set of plugs that just work.

dont buy these, fit is loose to say the least, set screw is of a super soft metal, the slot for the flat head scewdriver broke in half on two out of four. very poor construction
