Good first impressions
Good first impressions except there is a lot of play when it is mounted to a picatinny rail. There is about 1/16 to 1/8 inch travel on the light when mounted. I might be able to fix this with a little shim or something. The Power/Strobe buttons are small and slightly inset. It took me a few tries before I got it to a comfortable position. Overall, for $25, it's decent. Time will tell about robustness. As long as it lights every time I need it to.

3 year review, couldn't be happier
Absolutely a great value for your money. Friends think I have a $200 light on my rifle when it's just a $20 NC STAR which quite frankly performs exactly the same as the expensive lights. This thing has lasted my abuse for 3 years now. I couldn't be happier. I did replace the battery once but I have used it quite a bit and the battery was very inexpensive. and easy to replace. You don't even need to attach this to a firearm to get a good use out of it. I live in a rural wooded area and this thing LIGHTS the woods up and you can see literally everything - like a spot light. Works great as well on a shotgun or rifle. Would definitely blind a home intruder.Overall, I love this product. I bought a second one for my other rifle and gave one away as a gift. Couldn't be happier with NC STAR!

Fits Glock 23 & Magpul M-LOK rails. Easy to install. Very bright.
This was my first firearm-mounted flashlight that I've ever purchased & I'm definitely impressed. I have heard good things about NC Star, so I decided to go with this light: Good price ($25), lightweight, strobe-capable, and versatile (rifle & handgun applications).I bought this for home defense to keep on my AR-15, but tried it out on my pistol too. Works great on both.It was a like tricky, but I got it to fit my Magpul M-LOK rail on my AR. I didn't have to make any mods whatsoever, but it did take a few minutes to install, mostly because my Magpul MOE handguard has a bump at the 6 o'clock position in front. This made sliding it onto the M-LOK rail section difficult, but it definitely works & holds solid now. It's a snug fit, but that's a good thing - much better than a loose fit.And just as a bonus, I tried the for on my Glock 23 Gen4 & again, it fit perfectly. No mods necessary. The quick release mount takes literally 5 seconds to install or remove. I might just order a second one to keep on my Glock. Minimizes muzzle flip a little because of the added weight of the light up front. When you turn the light on, it'll default to the mode you had it in when you turned it off. So, either the solid beam mode or the strobe mode. That's a nice feature. Very bright too!All & all, I'm very happy with my NC Star. Keep in mind they have several size / weight / battery options for these small flashlights. I know there's a smaller one and a larger one, so checkout the website for additional products.

Good light for the price
I just received the light so I have limited use. If you want a bright light this is not for you. The quick mount is a little tricky but no bad once you figure out how it works. It does not fit super tight to my rail (it would be unacceptable for a red dot, scope, or laser). I it mounted on a cheap metal rail and that may be the issue. I have this mounted on a shotgun for home defense. The only time I will use it is in a self defense situation. It will be removed for practice. It meets my needs. Why spend a bunch of money on a light I may never use.

GREAT TACTICAL LIGHT w/ STROBE
I ordered 3 of these lights: One for my Canik TP9SF in which it fit the Full size 9mm Perfectly. The other was for my Glock G30 SF .45acp Gen 3. In which it also fit the .45acp Perfectly. It is exactly as described, Very Bright 3 watt, 150 Lumen, with the Strobe feature and it came with a battery. Works Perfectly, Very Bright and Fit Perfectly, I could not ask for a better light for ten times more money. Thanks(update, I ordered a 3rd light for backup if needed so I will never have to do without !)**such high quality, I probably will not need a backup,,,so I will either save it for a future pistol with a tactical rail or give it to my son for a gift !!!*****Oct 2017 -Just bought another for my Sig Sauer P250C...perfect fit and very happy once again !******Nov 2017 Bought one for my AR15. Perfect fit and reach from the forward grip.*****Nov 2017 Also bought another for my Smith & Wesson M&P 45acp. Fit and function are perfect.**NO FAILURES OF ANY TYPE WITH THE LIGHT SO FAR ON ANY OF MY WEAPONS TO DATE !!!

Maybe ok for a lefty..
I'll be honest, I bought this for my dad. He doesn't shoot much so I just wanted something solid and inexpensive because it really wouldn't see much use but he'd think it was cool. Had it fit on his Taurus PT111 he would have been perfectly happy with it. I threw it on both my G19 and G22 just for S&G and the fit was solid/tight, mounted and released easily enough and had a nice bright beam. I might have even kept it for my truck gun but I didn't think much of the controls. The activation button is on the left side at the front of the light. To most shooters that puts the controls to your non firing hand and it can't be reached from a shooters grip. Too cumbersome for any real world carry applications... Why they wouldn't have put the controls on the right side where they can be reached easily is beyond me. The cheap ones I've seen that use a slide style control is actually more practical and effective and this gen is supposed to be an upgrade for that. If its just something you want to play around with then go for it. The build quality seems decent enough for the price but its just not practical for any kind of defensive application. Not that you should expect a $30 light to be anyway...

Pretty good for the money.
I’ll update my review after I cycle some rounds threw my DP12 yeah I paid allot of money for a shotgun.. but I can’t see spending 150$ on a LED light . All I wanted was a descent light for home defense . I put the battery in correctly and it worked . The on off buttons are a bit small but doable . As long as it keeps working I’m happy with my purchase . I didn’t expect it to be super night but it compares to my older Coast flashlights. I have plenty of extra batteries from another item. I’ll update in a few months.
