Too Much For Too Little
I couldn't rate this product higher than 2 stars due to following:1. Not really a well built product, flimsy, when chickens step on panel the lift tilts open to one side, allowing only partial access to food.2. Food gets wet when it rains.3. Cost is way more then I paid 3 years ago for a like product at half the cost.

Thin but effective and large capacity!
This is a bit more flimsy than the Grandpa's Feeder but what makes it better is the hinged lid for easy access and the magnet to secure it close. I can easily open and close the lid with my foot and pour in feed and I never have to put the bucket or bag down. Other brands require you to use two hands to open the top portion and that quickly becomes tiresome. My girls learned how to use it in the first day but training holes are also supplied for the non-honor roll hens.

Best brand for chickens
I have had other brands before. This brand is better for 2 reasons. It is also cheaper.First, the metal pieces on the sides prevent birds being injured.Second, the weight is adjusted to allow bantams to use but keeps mice out.I also like the top which is slanted to allow water to run off and prevents birds from perching and pooping on the feeder. To get your birds to learn quickly just put treats they love in there. I used mealworms.

Missing one little one inch screw
Arrived all in one piece and undamage and very easy to put together. All you need to do is add the step and its fully fuctional. Only pisser is they missed this screw on the lid. The lid should have this one inch screw on each side so it opens and closes right but qaulity control missed it. I checked the whole box so it did not rattle off. I am not going to wait for them to ship me a screw because I want to stop feeding the neighborhood birds asap. So I will go to the ace in town and get stainless replacement because it looks to be stainless so that is a positive!Looks well built for the rain so I will update after a couple weeks. I took two stars off because I get so irritated when I have to take time out of my day to go and find missing parts!

This was the best investment I've made for my chickens.
Easy to use, chickens eventually figure it out and stop feeding the entire population. I don't have to worry if they have food and I don't have to chase off any freeloaders. Highly recommend!

Poor quality, poorly made
This is a second feeder, first one is a Grandpa's Feeder. This is no where near as good as the Grandpa's Feeder. The Pawhut feeder is poorly made of very thin metal. It does not stay closed, most mornings I go our chicken run (the run has a roof) and the feeder is wide open. There is a gap in the rear of the feeder that allows moisture into the area where the feed is stored. I was trying to save some money on buying another treadle feeder, this Pawhut feeder was not worth it. I just ordered Grandpa's Feeder, whish I should have done in the first place. I do not recommend the Pawhut Treadle Feeder. Tried to give it 0 stars but that was not permitted, so I gave it one star.

Lid doesn't close
When the chickens stand on the peddle to open the lid, it stays open after they get off. You can close it manually, but it gets stuck again as soon as they use it again. This one is cheaply made and it shows. Spend a little more and get something that actually works.

Excellent tool for my chicken loving friends
Took no time to at all for my girls to figure this out. I feel secure leaving them for a couple of days knowing they have food secure and ready for them.
