I actually thought it was the wrong part, but it was correct and easy to install. Take the pulley off, take the blade off and remove 5 bolts from the top. Then you can remove the whole assembly and replace. Very easy, but no instructions.

the item is exactly the same as what we removed , easy to install , I recommend this item and company that proved it.

I purchased 3 of these spindles. Thoroughly greased the fittings. One of the spindles failed within the first 3 hours of use. The top bearing disintegrated. Taking the blade along with it. The other two are fine so far. They are very reasonably priced compared to OEM, however the time it takes to pull the deck, and change out the spindle is very time consuming on some tractors making this a huge aggravation to have to do it twice. Hopefully this was a fluke and won't happen again. If it does I'll amend this review.Revised: 8/17/2020 - I am revising my review down to ONE star. I purchased three of these spindles. Two out of three had bearing failure within 2 months. All three were lubed at the zerk fittings fully.

Photo shows 2 replacement nylon keeper nuts, which the box doesn’t contain. Also, the grease zerk fittings are a total sales scam. Unit has two modern sealed style bearings, of which grease will never enter. They did fit my Murray 42” deck perfectly and run smoothly. If I can get a couple of cutting seasons out of these Chinese bearings, I’d be satisfied for the price. Fit and finish was good

These were 1/2 price on a flash sale. As other reviews said, the bolt holes are not threaded. Not a problem for me. That part took less than 5 minutes. But the hole size was slightly too large for the 3/8"x16 tap to be very clean so the threads were a little loose. Also before installation the shaft and bearings would just fall out of the assembly. The bearings on a unit like that are usually an "interference fit", meaning they are pressed into the housing.When I put the blades back on, the splined spacer contacted the bearing housing so I had to put a washer under the splined spacer. Next time I will be more careful with my purchase. The miser in me won out over the engineer.

This part was posted as a replacement part for a Murray lawn tractor! Part number matched but was not exactly like the part we replaced! We did make it work!

These arent complete units and require the old hardware and blade adapters. The pulleys are different from the ones listed so I had to use the old, worn pulleys until I get new ones. The nuts require an added washer and lock washer or they wont tighten the pulley. One of the spindles doesnt spin as freely as the other 2 so I will likely be changing the bearings next year.I expected these to be a standard Murray swap so was obviously disappointed with the amount of time I had to spend getting everything to work and reusing the old worn parts.After communicating with customer service about the problems I was told that the pulleys were redesigned to work better. As you can see from my pics the pulleys will obviously sit at a different height than the originals so definitely will not work unless you swap or modify all the other components on a deck. My original pulleys were worn so I ordered these units because the numbers matched the OEM Murray pulleys. I now have to order the pulleys separately from a different vendor. Their solution was to offer me a $5 refund.I will avoid this company in the future and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
